EXT. COFFEE SHOP - EVENING (A small, cozy coffee shop on a rainy evening. Soft jazz plays in the background. The glow of warm lights reflects on the wet pavement.)
INT. COFFEE SHOP - SAME TIME (AMELIA, late 20s, sits by the window, stirring her coffee absentmindedly. She’s wearing a slightly oversized sweater and glasses that keep sliding down her nose. She looks up as the door chimes.)
(ALEX, early 30s, walks in, shaking off the rain from his jacket. He has an effortless charm but looks a little lost.)
ALEX (To the barista) One black coffee, please.
(He turns, scanning the room, and notices AMELIA staring at him. She quickly looks away.)
ALEX (Smiling, approaching her table) You’re not very good at being subtle, are you?
AMELIA (Blinks, flustered) I... uh, wasn’t staring. Just—lost in thought.
ALEX (Raises an eyebrow, smirking) Sure. Mind if I sit?
(Amelia hesitates, then nods. Alex pulls out a chair and sits.)
ALEX So, what’s so interesting about a guy walking in from the rain?
AMELIA (Half-smiling) You looked... out of place. Like you weren’t planning to be here.
ALEX (Laughs softly) You got me. I was supposed to meet someone, but—plans changed.
AMELIA (Smiling) Well, maybe you were supposed to end up here instead.
(A beat. They hold each other’s gaze, something unspoken passing between them.)
ALEX (Mischievously) Are you always this philosophical, or is it just the coffee talking?
AMELIA (Chuckles) A little of both.
(They continue talking, their laughter blending with the soft hum of the café. The rain continues outside, but inside, something new is beginning.)
