Aurelia's POV
"How long have you known you're pregnant?"
The words hit me so hard that I forgot how to breathe.
"What?" I said
Selina stared at me.
The training ground around us had gone strangely quiet.
Several wolves were watching.
My stomach tightened.
"Pregnant?" I repeated.
Selina looked confused.
"Then why is there blood all over your shirt?"
I immediately looked down again.
The blood stained the front of my clothes.
For one horrible second,I thought she was right.
Was I injured during the attack?
Had the rogue managed to wound me without me noticing?
My hands moved frantically across my body.
My side,ribs,stomach. Nothing,no wound.
"That's not my blood," I whispered.
Selina frowned.
"What?"
Before I could answer, another voice interrupted.
"Move."
The sharp command cut through the crowd.
Everyone immediately stepped aside.
Alpha Ragnar came through,my heartbeat stumbled.
He approached with his Beta Kieran beside him.
Both men were covered in blood from battle.
Ragnar's eyes swept over the crowd before settling on me.
His expression darkened. "What is everyone standing around for?"
Kieran glanced at my shirt.
"The blood belongs to the rogue."
Relief visibly crossed several faces.
The whispers immediately died.
Selina released a shaky breath.
"Oh."
I almost laughed, not because anything was funny but because for one terrifying moment, everyone had looked at me as though I had suddenly grown another head.
Ragnar's gaze lingered on me.
Something unreadable flashed through his eyes.
Then it vanished. "Get the injured to the medical center."
His voice became cold again.
"Anyone capable of standing should be helping."
The crowd scattered, nobody wanted to attract the Alpha's anger.
Selina grabbed my arm."Come on."
I nodded.
My body felt exhausted,everything hurt.
The adrenaline from the battle was finally fading.
As we started walking away, Ragnar spoke again.
"Aurelia."
My feet froze. I slowly turned around.
The Alpha stood several feet away. His eyes locked onto mine.
"You stabbed a rogue."
My throat tightened.
"Yes."
"You could have died." He said.
The memory made my hands tremble.
"I know."
His jaw clenched and for some reason, he looked annoyed.
"No." His voice hardened.
"You clearly don't."
The Alpha turned away.
"Next time stay where you belong."
The words struck.
Selina squeezed my arm before pulling me away.
I didn't look back.
The Silver Crest Medical Center occupied an entire section of the pack compound.
By the time Selina and I arrived, the building was overflowing.
Healers moved in every direction.
Stretchers lined the hallways.
The scent of blood hung heavily in the air.
"We need more bandages!"
"This one has silver poisoning!"
"Call another healer!"
The chaos reminded me of the battlefield.
Only now the fighting had stopped but the suffering was just starting.
Selina immediately joined the healers.
She might be an omega but unlike me, she had a gift.
She could help people.
I stood awkwardly near the entrance.
Watching everyone work,watching everyone matter.
A familiar feeling settled inside my chest.
The same loneliness I had carried my entire life.
"Aurelia." I turned.
An older healer approached.
Gamma Helena.
One of the few wolves who didn't openly despise me.
"Can you help organize supplies?" She asked.
"Of course." I said.
For the next two hours, I worked quietly.
Carrying medicine,delivering bandages.
Cleaning treatment rooms,nobody thanked me.
At least I wasn't being mocked, not today.
The thought had barely formed when laughter echoed from the corridor.
My stomach sank instantly.
I recognized those voices.
Three female wolves entered.
Warrior trainees. The same ones who spent years tormenting me.
The tallest smirked.
"Look who survived."
The other two laughed. I lowered my eyes.
"Still breathing, Omega?"
"I heard the rogue almost ate her."
"What a shame." More laughter.
I continued stacking supplies, pretending not to hear them.
Pretending it didn't hurt. The tallest stepped closer.
"Did you hear something?"
One of the others grinned.
"Maybe she's deaf now."
"No." The first girl sneered.
"She's just miserable."
The room erupted with laughter again.
Heat burned behind my eyes.
Then another voice entered the room.
"What exactly is so funny?" The voice asked.
The three girls went pale,I looked toward the doorway.
Beta Kieran stood there. His green eyes were cold.
Nobody answered.
Kieran folded his arms. "That's what I thought."
The girls immediately rushed out.
None of them dared challenge the Beta.
The moment they disappeared, silence returned.
I expected Kieran to leave.
Instead, he looked at me.
"You should stop letting them do that."
I blinked.
"What?"
His expression softened slightly.
"They only continue because you never fight back."
"Fight back with what?" I asked, the Beta didn't answer.
Kieran sighed, then walked away leaving me alone with the words I couldn't stop thinking about.
Fight back,how?
That night I couldn't sleep.
The battle kept replaying inside my head.
The rogue,the spear,the strange instincts.
I sat on the small bed inside my room.
Moonlight spilled through the window.
Silver light illuminated the floor.
A strange feeling washed over me.
A comforting feeling for that matter.
My scarred shoulder tingled.
I frowned.
Slowly, I pulled back my sleeve.
The bruise Rowan had given me earlier was fading rapidly.
The dark purple mark lightened before my eyes.
Seconds later it was almost gone.
Impossible.
My heart started pounding.
"What..."
A cold breeze drifted through the open window.
The moonlight brightened, and strange warmth increased.
Then I heard a whisper that was distant.
"Aurelia..."
I shot to my feet,my pulse thundered.
The room was empty, yet the voice came again.
"Aurelia..."
A chill raced down my spine because this time I knew one thing.
The voice hadn't come from outside the room.
It had come from inside my head and before I could react, a pair of glowing silver eyes suddenly appeared in the darkness beyond my window.
As though they had been searching for me all along.
The voice whispered one final sentence.
"The seal is breaking."
