Lin Hao stood in front of the female zombie, imagining how this once-dominant student council president now stood before him, blank and mindless like an imbecile.
“Do zombies care about anything other than food?” Lin Hao asked again.
“Due to the passage of time, most zombies haven’t evolved intelligence yet. Apart from basic instincts, they are indifferent to everything else,” Goudan explained. Just as she finished, Lin Hao made a move that drove her crazy.
Without hesitation, Lin Hao reached out and placed his hand on the female zombie’s chest.
As expected, the female zombie merely glanced curiously at Lin Hao before turning and wandering off, leaving Lin Hao standing there, staring at his hands in disbelief.
“So soft, so big, it feels really good,” Lin Hao thought, wishing he could shout it to the sky. Unfortunately, he could only produce hissing sounds.
The surrounding zombies, hearing their companion, started hissing as well.
“Lin Hao, you’re such a hopeless pervert,” Goudan said bitterly.
Lin Hao, unfazed, continued, “What do my skills mean?”
Goudan replied, “Skills are special abilities that emerge once a zombie develops intelligence. For example, your skill is mental control, a powerful ability that allows you to control zombies with lower mental power, making them do anything.”
“How do I use it?” Lin Hao asked eagerly, like a curious child.
Goudan sighed and said, “Try focusing your mental power on a nearby zombie.”
Lin Hao focused his eyes on the pretty female zombie that had walked away.
Immediately, an invisible thread shot from Lin Hao’s brain towards the female zombie. He could clearly feel the thread, even though he couldn’t see it.
When the thread pierced the female zombie’s brain, she stood still, as if under a spell.
Using the thread as a medium, Lin Hao conveyed his will to the female zombie.
“Raise your hand, lift your leg. Haha, it’s working! I can control zombies!” Lin Hao danced in excitement.
“Does the (0/100) next to my skill mean experience points like the (0/100) next to my level?” Lin Hao asked.
“No, that’s proficiency. When proficiency reaches a certain level, your skill might strengthen or mutate, and it will also increase your mental power. Your other attributes can improve by leveling up, but mental power can also increase with proficiency, as you’re a mental-type zombie,” Goudan explained seriously.
“Mental-type? Zombies have types?” Lin Hao asked, surprised.
“In our galaxy, many things are classified in detail, including zombies,” Goudan replied.
“Do you know how the zombie virus started?” Lin Hao asked a crucial question.
“That’s your own fault, humans. My destination wasn’t Earth. I stopped here to recharge when I ran out of energy. You humans opened my package, releasing the residual T-virus,” Goudan explained.
“Package…what an apt metaphor,” Lin Hao said, staring intently at the female zombie ahead.
“You pervert, stop it!” Goudan shouted in his mind.
Under Lin Hao’s control, the female zombie was undressing.
Finally, using his last bit of decency, Lin Hao made the female zombie put her clothes back on. After all, some things were best left to imagination, especially with a zombie.
Lin Hao thought of Wei Xuehan. When he saw her again, he would strip her and throw her into a zombie horde to show her true despair.
Goudan didn’t know Lin Hao’s thoughts, but he realized that unless he consciously communicated with Goudan, she couldn’t hear his thoughts.
This comforted Lin Hao. Even if Goudan knew his thoughts, she’d probably just roll her eyes.
Hunger reminded Lin Hao of his physical state. He withdrew his mental thread from the female zombie and said, “I need to find food, or I’ll starve.”
Goudan ignored him… Lin Hao had figured out that Goudan would ignore him if he talked about trivial matters.
The elevator was out of service. After the zombie outbreak, electricity, gas, and communication systems were all down. Lin Hao had no choice but to take the stairs.
“I wonder where Wei Xuehan and Wang Wei are now. They better hope I don’t find them,” Lin Hao thought as he rubbed his stomach.
“Goudan, you said I could level up. How do I do that?” Lin Hao asked, checking his attributes again. His skill proficiency had increased to (1/100), but his level remained unchanged.
“A truly powerful zombie shouldn’t rely on others for everything. Find the clues yourself,” Goudan said.
Lin Hao muttered to himself, wondering what use the system was. He didn’t dare let Goudan hear that, though. The system was his only guide in this new existence.
“The sun is so round!” Lin Hao exclaimed.
“i***t, that’s the moon,” Goudan snapped.
Lin Hao wasn’t offended by the insult. Instead, he looked at the sky in amazement. “How can the moon be so bright?”
“Your vision has been enhanced. Adapt, and the glare will subside,” Goudan explained.
“Being a zombie isn’t so bad after all,” Lin Hao said proudly.
“If you have self-awareness,” Goudan retorted.
Lin Hao didn’t want to talk to Goudan anymore. Every topic turned negative.
Feeling weak from hunger, Lin Hao struggled to walk.
“Lin Hao, your stamina is dropping fast. If you don’t eat, you’ll enter a weakened state,” Goudan said calmly.
“Weakened state? What does that mean?” Lin Hao asked.
“You’ll move slower, even slower than ordinary humans,” Goudan replied.
Lin Hao ignored this as he approached the supermarket. “Goudan, why did you call me Master at first but now use my name?”
After a long pause, Goudan didn’t respond.
