I ran, hoping they wouldn’t follow me, but also hoping they would. All these heightened emotions were so confusing! I felt humiliated. I was so used to rejection in my life- I was rejected by my parents, my sister, and the majority of my school mates, why should this be any different? I was so terrified that they were going to turn around and reject me like almost everyone else in my life.
I was running full speed without paying any attention to what direction I was going, just needing to put distance between us. I didn’t recognize my surroundings, but I couldn’t care about getting lost at the moment. I would probably be able to follow my scent trail back. If not…oh well…I could just sleep under a tree as a wolf somewhere.
