They each stood uncertainly and led me to the ledge on the edge of the veranda under the twinkling stars. I realized they both held small boxes in their hands, my heart was sprinting. They kneeled side by side on one knee and offered me the open boxes. Each contained a delicate ring, Aric’s was silver with a white diamond with small sapphires in blue and green on the sides, Alec’s was yellow gold with tiny diamonds all the way around in intricate patterns. Both were so different, but I knew they would fit together flawlessly.
Tears were sliding down my cheeks, I cleared my throat, “yes,” I whispered, “Yes Aric. Yes Alec- I love you both so much,” I was sobbing openly as they slid their rings onto my ring finger where they interlaced perfectly like the two coinciding pieces of my heart.
