Alpha Alex POV Who could have thought I would find my mate in such a small town? The whole thought of the interesting night we had together kept me happy as I walked straight to my hotel room. I knew she must have been waiting for me, I just had to finish the meeting quickly so I could speak with her. The little conservation we had last night was not something I could hold up to because she was on alcohol. I hastened up my movements and finally arrived in my room. I opened the door at once and quickly walked in hoping to see her face at first sight but the whole room was quiet, and she wasn’t in bed. I was curious and the smile on my face gradually faded away. But a second thought came in, she might be in the bathroom or the balcony so I walked towards the balcony in search of her, but she was not there. I checked the bathroom and still couldn't find anyone. I sniffed the air and her scent was still in the room but faint. “Where is she?” I groaned. “Gabriel!” I called out to my Beta. “Is there a problem, Alpha?” He responded as he entered the room. “I can’t find her. Where is the young lady that came home with me last night?” I asked. He raised his head and quickly looked around the room, “I don’t know, but she couldn’t have gone far. The guards were supposed to watch over her like you instructed before you left.” My eyes glowed in anger and my wolf was already on the edge due to not seeing her. “Find her now!” I exclaimed. Gabriel nodded and left the room at once. It wasn’t my habit to bring ladies to my hotel room but it was different this time and I expected Gabriel to understand what I meant when I asked for her to be guarded. The problem I had now was that she didn’t even get to tell me her name. How was I supposed to find her in such a town? I didn’t even know my way around, focusing on the main purpose why I had visited was more like another problem. It was hard to concentrate when I knew my mate was out there on the run. “Cancel all my meetings for now, I don’t want to be disturbed.” I turned to my secretary who was standing by my side. “But sir… what about the meeting for today?” She asked. “I said, I don’t want to be disturbed!” I yelled at her. “It’s the meeting with the other Alphas. What do I tell them?” She continued. That was part of the reason why I had visited. I couldn’t just cancel that meeting. The other Alphas won’t accept any form of excuse from me, I can’t allow my issues to affect everyone around me. “Don’t worry about that meeting, I will be there myself,” I replied to her. “And send words across to Gabriel, see how he is doing with his search.” She nodded and left without saying a word. Just after she left the room, Gabriel walked inside a few minutes later, trying to catch his breath. “We managed to see her but she escaped from us when she noticed we were on her.” “How is that possible? She is powerless, she claims she doesn’t even have a wolf.” I yelled at him. “She seemed to be very fast, Alpha. And no one wants to say anything about her identity,” Gabriel replied. “Try to ask questions in the bar we visited last night, maybe someone might know her name there,” I ordered. “We have done that already, they said it’s against their policy to reveal such details,” he replied. “I see…,” I paced around the room, picked up a bottle of whiskey, and poured myself a bottle of whiskey. “You have messed up this great opportunity, we have to find her!” My wolf yelled at me. “The meeting starts in less than an hour from now, we should get going,” I muttered and poured the remaining drink in my mouth before I took a step outside the room. The meeting was just in a conference hall in the same hotel where I had booked. I took the elevator to the down floor and walked towards the conference hall. When we arrived there, the glass door opened, and I walked inside myself, leaving Gabriel and the other men outside. The meeting was strictly for Alphas only. Three Alphas and the high priestess were already seated there waiting. I was the only one left. But why had they come so early? “I guess I didn’t come late?” I murmured after I had taken my seat. “Not quite late, let the meeting begin since we are all here now.” The high priestess announced. “Let's start with a formal introduction again, and that starts with you.” She gestured towards me. “I am Alpha Alex, descendant of Gibbs from the Western pack,” I replied. The next Alpha beside me followed immediately, “I am Alpha Zach Morris of the Northern pack.” Then the last Alpha, who was directly opposite me, smirked and stood up, looking around the room. Then finally he spoke up, “I am Alpha Vincent Dalton, from the Eastern pack.” Then I noticed there was one pack left, the southern pack. They had refused to attend the meeting because they still didn’t want peace. They still had the ground of the last Alpha King from their tribe who was assassinated years ago. I had heard rumors about how all four tribes fought each other, but the story was never told completely because the Northern tribe had almost conquered every other tribe and decided to keep the information of the war to themselves. Now it was time to make peace and get a new Alpha King who would rule all four tribes in peace. Alpha Zach and the high priestess were quite aged among us and though he still looked neat and calm. Alpha Vincent was an elderly man filled with his ego. He didn’t look like an Alpha who would let others get over him. He looked almost the same age as Alpha Zach, which made things quite interesting. “We all know of the situations that have been happening recently, and we have to do something about it.” The high priestess began. “I have experienced some killings recently in my pack and I don’t like the sight of them,” Alpha Zach murmured. “I got reports too from my men, concerning the killings of my pack members. The killers are yet to be traced, and it seems they have a leader.” Alpha Vincent gasped. “A leader? I believe they are just rogues,” I snapped. “We can’t say for now, we can’t blame the southern pack, too, because we don’t have evidence against them. But one thing is sure, it’s time we had an Alpha King!” The high priestess replied. Hearing this, Alpha Zach smirked like he had always wanted it. I quickly turned around to Alpha Vincent, he had the same smirk on his face. The Alpha King has always been known to be the strongest amongst other Alphas and must be mated too. I only met with my mate a day before, and now she was nowhere to be seen. “I am the oldest here, and I guess that has to go to me,” Alpha Zach snapped. “That’s not happening, Zach! You had your time, and now it’s mine.” Alpha Vincent challenged him, and immediately they got into a heated argument. As they argued, I caught the faint smell of my mate again, and immediately I stood up, my eyes scanning around the room. They all stood up in shock too, thinking something was happening, “I will be back.” “Is there an issue, Alpha Alex?” The high priestess asked as I walked outside the conference room. I didn’t give a reply but walked straight to Gabriel who was standing by the side of the door. “She is here,” I snapped. “Who?” He asked curiously. “My mate is around somewhere, sending a message across for more men. I need her at all costs!” I ordered. Just as Gabriel left with some men, the Alphas and the high priestess were already walking out. It seemed the meeting was finally over. But the looks on their faces didn’t look like they had a successful meeting and I didn’t ask either. The Alpha position was open to all Alphas, but one must be an Alpha with a strong mate too. At that point, I needed to find her as soon as possible. As Alpha Vincent and his subordinates walked past me, I caught a faint smell of her again. Why was her scent all over him? I quickly grabbed the man’s hand which I had caught her scent and pulled him back. “Why do you have her scent? Are you mated?” “Let’s go Rex,” Alpha Vincent called out to the man. He pulled his hands off and walked away. “I have to find him,” I snapped.
