“What can we do while we wait for Rhett?” I whispered.
The words slipped out before I could stop them... teasing, soft, reckless. I could hear it in my own voice, the way it tilted, the way my eyes betrayed me, the way my heart pounded. Knox saw it immediately. His gaze darkened, slow and deliberate, like he was weighing a sin he’d already decided to commit.
The room felt warmer all of a sudden. Or maybe that was just me.
My wolf stirred, restless and smug.
"You shouldn’t tease him," Mei murmured, though there was laughter in her voice. "You’re not very good at stopping once you start."
