Three days passed in the blink of an eye, between wandering around, sleeping, disturbing Simon, sleeping, enduring Tina's constant chatter, and sleeping. I have never slept so much in my life, and so comfortably.
This was the first time I had slept for more than an hour without waking up every few minutes to check the place . Coming here was a good idea, because knowing that Simon is here to tell me if anything happened eased the burden on my shoulders.
"Are you ready for the best tour of the city?" Tina spoke in a cheerful voice, waving her hands dramatically, which made me roll my eyes in boredom. Couldn't she see that I didn't want to do this just by looking at my expression? I really don't know how Simon can put up with her every day, welcome her presence, and even miss her.
That ridiculous bond did wonders for him.
I sighed audibly, causing Simon to tap me on the back of the head with his fingers, warning me not to hurt his girlfriend's feelings. I glared at him fiercely and stroked my head as my imagination began to conjure up all kinds of scenarios to get back at him. "I've already seen the town, Tina, and I really don't want to bother you." "
She clasped her hands and rested them under her chin, looking at me with a strange expression. "Oh my God, how sweet," she said. The annoyance was clear on my face, but she didn't seem to notice and continued in the same tone, "No bother at all, I'm really enjoying this."
Tina took Simon's hand and walked toward the door. "Come on, there's so much to see."
I followed them slowly, wishing I was anywhere else. We wandered through several neighborhoods and she showed me the homes of several important figures. Then we went to the main library, which amazed me. It looked like a medieval palace, with an aura of majesty and a strange atmosphere.
After the library, we visited several gardens, where Tina met several friends who welcomed me with obvious surprise. How could a human being be so close to a genuine wizard? I left the explanation of this to Saiman. After that, I don't remember the other places we visited, just some shops and restaurants, and finally we stopped at the entrance to a large forest. I concluded that it was their herd's forest, and I was amazed by its size. I think this is the largest herd I have ever seen. "I would love to take you on a tour of it, but you never know what you might encounter in the forest, so I advise you never to enter it alone."
I nodded without taking my eyes off the trees because I sensed someone was there. Seconds after staring intently, I glimpsed the silhouette of a person walking toward us.
My senses were on high alert for the intruder, but seconds later, I relaxed when I heard Tina's voice welcoming him. "Max, how are you?"
"I'm fine, Tina. How are you and Simon? I haven't seen you in a long time." I stepped back to examine him. He was strong and must have a high position in the pack. His body was athletic, like all werewolves, and his black hair was tousled, showing that he had been running. His features were gentle, and his brown eyes radiated warmth. He glanced at Simon and Tina before settling on me.
Tina replied, approaching me and resting her hand on my shoulder. "Fine. This is Ekelia, Simon's cousin. She came to study at our academy, and I was showing her around."
His smile widened quickly and he extended his hand to me. "Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Max."
I walked towards him and slowly extended my hand with a lukewarm smile. I took his hand and some of his memories flooded back to me very quickly: a small child in a house full of corpses and blood, screaming and crying for his parents, with wolves everywhere. "Hello."
I pulled my hand away and exhaled. Oh my God, the feelings he carried exhausted me for a moment. Why does he carry this burden alone? It's good that I helped him a little.
He looked at me in surprise and furrowed his brow in confusion. I bit my lip trying not to laugh at his expression. One of the abilities I took from the angels is the ability to see a person's memories as soon as I touch them, to feel their emotions and control them as well. So as soon as I touched him and saw what was weighing him down, I tried to ease his feelings of loneliness and sadness. The loss of his parents in that m******e had really affected him, and even though he has many friends because of his position, as I expected he is the beta of this Herd he was still lonely.
"Not very talkative, as I see it,"
he said jokingly, running his left hand through his hair and showing off his defined muscles. I looked away from his arms, my lips curving into a half-smile, and shrugged my shoulders, putting my hands in my pants pockets. "Very talkative, as I see it,"
He laughed, showing his white teeth, and replied, "Not that much." He pointed to where Tina was standing, and I let out a laugh. I really don't think anyone talks that much.
"So how did you find our town ?" I turned my attention back to him when he added, asking.
I looked around as if inspecting it before answering, "It's beautiful, surrounded by a peaceful tranquility."
He nodded at my words as if he understood what I meant. "Wait until you see our academy. It's breathtaking."
" I told her that. It really looks like a castle from a fairy tale," Tina added enthusiastically, hugging Simon's arm. He looked at her lovingly and smiled tenderly.
"If it looks like your library, I think I'll love it," I commented, taking my eyes off the couple and taking a few steps back away from the forest. I don't know why I suddenly felt uneasy, but there was something about the forest that awakened my senses and compelled me to look at it. Perhaps it was because the feelings I had taken from this beta made me feel as if I had a history here.
"That library seems like nothing compared to it." I focused my attention on the beta , ignoring these new feelings I was experiencing.
I smiled and nodded to Simon so we could leave. "Then I'll see you there, and I'll see what all the fuss about this academy is about."
Max nodded. "See you there, then." He turned back toward the forest, while I didn't wait for Simon and Tina and walked away toward the house. After a few moments, I sensed them walking behind me, so I kept up my pace to maintain some distance between us and avoid hearing their silly romantic murmurs, which I was tired of.
