Berton's POV
I inhaled sharply, trying to calm my wolf. It took everything in me to walk out of the restroom to wait for her. What I did just now was inappropriate, and I knew she was angered by my intrusion.
This was so uncharacteristic of me, barging into the ladies' restroom while she was dressing up and seeing her naked. I facepalmed myself, realizing how terrible it was. I just hope she'd be forgiven after what happened.
I never thought I would do something terrible, but I had been controlled by the scent. It had messed with my mind, and the only thing I wanted to do was to see the last behind that scent again. I never thought I'd encounter her today. I had been unprepared, which must be why I lost control and barged in on her. "How long do I have to wait?" I muttered and sighed, leaning against the wall. Tucking my hand into my pockets, I closed my eyes while remembering her scent that had affected me positively. Who would've thought that her scent could calm my wolf?
Not even in my dream did I see this coming. To think a scent could be the only way to control my wolf was just insane and unbelievably, plus with the fact that the scent belonged to a woman. I needed to speak to her about her scent.
I couldn't imagine her reaction once I told her about the effect her scent had on me. I wondered what she would say, but I knew I should expect the worst reaction from her. She might even call me a creep after I tell her the truth. No matter the outcome, I was ready for whatever she threw my way.
A few minutes later, the bathroom door was pulled open. I pulled away from the wall when she stepped out of the bathroom completely dressed. I was about to speak to her when she walked past me, not even looking in my direction.
She treated me like thin air as she hurriedly walked down the hallway, taking the left direction that led to the office area. I watched her retreat for a while in disbelief. What was that about? She totally ignored my presence. She didn't even bother to reprehend me after what happened earlier. It was obvious that she was furious a while ago, so why was she ignoring me instead of flaring up at me? All this felt so perplexing. Was I wrong about her scent? Perhaps I was making a mistake all this while about her scent and was taking it too far. No! That wasn't a mistake.
This was the first time I was perceiving something this strong to actually tame my wolf. The scent was unfamiliar and unique. There was something unexplainable about her scent that left speechless. If only I could get her to listen to me, then maybe I'd know the next step to take. But what was she doing here? Who did she come for? She was walking towards the office area hastily. Could it be that she has something urgent to do? But what could that be?
After thinking for a brief moment, it finally dawned on me. I remembered the logistics department was interviewing a new cleaner staff today. Could it be that she was one of the interviewees?
I quickly rushed down the corridor, heading towards my assistant, I tapped on her table to grab his attention, and she immediately looked up. "Yes, sir?" She asked, pushing her glasses up as she stared at me with a baffled expression.
"I want a list of the interviewees for the cleaner position, right now," I said with urgency, but she blinked confused.
"Well sir, I don't actually have the list of the interviewees. Maybe I could ask the HR manager for more information. Would you like to speak to HR directly, or should I take care of it?" She asked, realizing that I was still standing there.
"No, you can continue with the call," I replied, and she contacted the HR.
"Good day, the boss would like a list of the candidates that applied for the cleaner position," she said through the phone. The place was busy with people getting about with their activities, but I tried to wait patiently for her to finish with the call.
"Yes, so can I have the list then? Boss would like to have them now. Yes, you can forward it to me now. That would be all for now. Thank you for your assistance," she ended the call.
"Boss, he said he'd forward it in soon," she informed me, but her voice sounded distant as I focused my attention on the direction the interview was being held. I could see a few people waiting for their turn to be called in. She wasn't among them, which meant she was inside the interviewing room.
How long would it take for her to be through with the interview? Will it be up to an hour or less than an hour? I wondered while glancing at my wristwatch.
I just had to wait for her to be done here? I needed to speak to her immediately when she came out. I exhaled sharply with my gaze still locked on the closed door in hope she'd step out of the office the next moment. I was already making a countdown in my head.
The doorknob was twisted, indicating that someone was about to step out of the office.
"Boss, he has sent the list," my assistant called my attention.
"Send it to my office," I replied, keeping my eyes on the door and as soon as she stepped out of the office, I found myself walking towards her. She was already making her way to the lobby, and I fastened my steps until I finally reached her.
"Wait," I blocked her way before she could walk further to the lobby. She halted, her brows drew into a hard knot. "What are you doing?" She asked, seemingly surprised.
"Can I have a word with you? It's critical," I said, staring directly into her eyes and she had a puzzled expression, and she parted her lips to speak.
