CHAPTER TWENTY NINE

Bellia’s Point Of View

We talked about Jordan’s words to me and Mang Sinlac’s case, we still don’t know if we should dictate Jordan after she attacks me in the restroom, but maybe no one will believe us because he also said that she has a big wound on her chest and she will definitely say that I did it to avoid giving the case to her by the court.

He said a lot about his ideas in the case of Mang Sinlac, what he told me was not bad but we can’t just act violently because I will admit that I already felt afraid of Jordan, because of her creepiness and unnatural moves and acts.

I arranged my seat on the hammock while he leaned against the big tree and sat down. “But, hey, I’m planning to visit mommy and daddy in September, because they can’t continue coming home here. Daddy has a sudden event in his business, right on the day they were supposed to go home, are you in?”

“It’s a long trip and flight, Belle, are you sure with that plan?” He looks up at the sky with narrow eyes. “I mean, you can’t stand heights, right? Baka tumalon ka habang nasa loob tayo ng eroplano, you’d been giving me goosebumps when we ran into the rooftop of a building, remember that? You were convincing me to let you jump into it, you were out of your mind back then, you really were.”

I pouted for a second while swaying myself on a hammock. “But admit it or not, we are both afraid of heights. But you can’t blame me if I want to visit my parents, can you? No one could deal with me on that, it was my own decision, though. Also, my friends and former classmates want to see me after all these years.”

I saw him nodding while massaging his neck. “No comment on that. How many friends do you have in California? Four? Five? Or more than five?” He stood up as I heard his deep breath.

“Yep, four. I could remember their names, Illiara, Chino, Kirari, and Keegan. Samahan mo ‘ko, please. I will talk to mum when we get there, her mind better stops ruining your image of her, just come with me.” I looked upon his hands as he cleaned ‘em. “By the way, how could we kidnap Jordan?”

“Ah, yes, about that, I knew her brother, Ygon. He urged that his sister, Jordan, has a dorm. But she’s often going home on their house, dalawang palapag lang daw ang bahay nila, and her room was from the upper. Well, I didn’t asked him if their parents are living with ‘em, he said that they are not, nasa Mindanao raw sila, sa susunod na buwan pa raw ang uwi nila rito. What the matter is, Jordan’s room was always locked, she would not let his brother in, and Ygon admitted that his sister was always acting weird, but he didn’t seem to see anything strange that she was doing. We should have known about tricks.” He grabbed the strap of the hammock and then moved it gently. “But, the good thing is, Ygon is always in the dorm of his bandmates, he often goes straight there because they don’t stop rehearsing.”

Why can’t Ygon take his eyes on Jordan? He should at least watch his sister’s movements. “But the plan? Is that okay? It’s too violent to me, sa ‘yo ba?”

He nodded as he walked behind me. “It wasn’t bad. It’s a good plan, it isn’t violent. Hmm, I would like to hear her throw bad words at us. I have also prepared the things, all you need to do is to wait until tomorrow’s dawn, let’s wait for someone to reach us today, okay?”

I frowned as I gave him that confused look, “Let’s wait for someone to call? Who? Who will call?” I stopped cradling myself.

I heard him sighed as the fresh air went through our skin, my hair swayed and so then the hammock. It’s not repetitive to look at his face, I could stare at him all the time. Every flow of air goes through our skins as if it agrees with the two of us

He stared at me for a few moments and took his cellphone out of his pants pocket, he pressed something on it and then turned its screen to me. “6 minutes remaining? What’s with that, Gab?”

I heard his heavy breathing as he put his cellphone back in his pocket. “We talked about this last night, Matthew. Don’t worry ‘bout it, we’ll handle this one. After Jordan can smell it, you will go to your place immediately, we will let you ask her about things, we will not interfere.”

“Huh? Iiwan niyo ako sa loob with her? What if she attacks me? You must accompany me inside, I’m afraid of her.” I was exhausted saying, “I need you to accompany me.”

He slowly nodded and then his jaw suddenly tightened out of nowhere. “Okay. We will accompany you, and there’s nothing for you to be afraid of, okay? She should be the one who will be afraid of you. Look, don’t show her you are afraid of her, she will just keep looking down at you, gusto mo ba ‘yon?”

I shook my head and that made him smile. In the middle of our conversation, his cellphone rang and said that it was Matthew. “We’re out of here. Let’s go.”

Sumunod naman ako sa kaniya. We talked about the view earlier in his favourite spot, pinuri ko naman. Malayo pa ‘man ay nakikita ko na si Matthew na nakatayo habang nakatutok ang atensyon sa kaniyang cellphone.

“Don’t spill this to Logan.” He whispered.

I ran beside him and looked at his face. “Honestly, I don’t have the plan to say this to Logan, but why couldn’t I?”

Biglang seryoso ang naging tingin niya sa akin at biglang naging back-to-normal. “Because he’s not a friend of mine, just yours. Okay?”

“Gab, she reached me just a few minutes ago, she tried to reach you but you both seemed to be having a good time, huh? Let’s go, tumawag na rin ako ng taxi, hinihintay niya na ako.” Matthew urged to him. “Nagpaalam na rin ako kay grandpa, we’ll be having a good trip.”

They both smirked as they turned their gaze to me, what’s with them? “Let’s go, Belle.”

She? Babae ang hinabulan nila ng tulong? Oh, my goodness with this two men.
