Kareem flipped the on the plate before grabbing the sausage from the boiling water and putting it on the plate as well.

"She's upstairs sleep right now"

"She's there with you?" Joyce asked.

"Yea, I told her she can stay for a few days. Last night was the first night"

"Oh ok, Well that's sweet of you baby. She sounds like she can really use someone on her side, don't do anything to make her think otherwise"

"I won't momma"

"I'm serious Kareem. It’s been a long 4 months. I mean a long, long long 4 months. A very l-"

"I get it ma, damm" he laughed A longtime"

"Anyway" she laughed "Don't make those 4 months go to waste because you can't keep your little thing in your pants. Now, what time she has to be at work?"

"Uh, 9:30. Why?"

"Son, its 9:26"

He cursed under his breath "I'll call you back" he hung up the phone and grabbed the plate of breakfast and walked upstairs to his room.

He pushed open the door to see Sage dressed and ready. "I made you breakfast"

She smiled "Thank you, it smells amazing"

"It taste better. Now hurry, you're goin to be late"

"It’s ok Keemy, I'm going in at 10 today" she sat on the end of the bed and took a bite of her pancake "I expected to see you in bed but didn't"

"I ain't want you to feel uncomfortable so I took the couch. I know how you women are with that type of stuff"

"Maybe us woman wouldn't be like that if you men weren't always horny dogs" she shot back with a small laugh.

"Iight, you got that one" he nodded "So you plan on talkin to Jamie or your momma?"

"Uh definitely not. Why would I?"

"They're family"

"Yea? Family would have a better understanding of what I'm been through and would take my feelings into consideration"

"You can't really blame them Sage. They didn't go through what you did"

"You're on their side?”She questioned, taking a bite of her bacon.

"Not in the slightest, but they don't know what you’re feeling because they didn't go through it. They probably think it’s not that big of a deal. When it is"

"Well to answer your question, I'm not speaking to them anytime soon"

"Iight, I guess" Kareem shrugged "Did Jamie at least call?"

Sage nodded "And texted me" she said. "But um, I have to go. I'll see you after I get off"

"You want me to drop you off?"

She shook her head "I need sometime alone" she said with a small smile. She grabbed her purse and phone before walking towards the room door.

Kareem gently grabbed her arm, pulling her into his chest. He leaned forward and kissed her slow. This was their first real kiss and even though it wasn't under the right circumstances, it was still an amazing first kiss for them both.

His hands dropped to her waist and she gripped his shirt, pulling him closer. The taste of mint filled each other’s mouth until Sage slowly pulled away.

"I ain't mean to upset you iight?" Kareem said, kissing her lips "I'm not on their side either. I'm just sayin, they don't know ok? I'm on your side baby"

She nodded and kissed him again "I'll see you when I get back"

He let her go and licked his lips while watching her walk out the room. He sighed and ran his hand over his face before going to take a needed hot shower. Jamie slid into the booth at the coffee shop and watched as his mom walked in through the doors with shades over her face. After Sage left him at the shop yesterday, he canceled on his mom and rescheduled for today. She slid in the opposite side of the booth and took off her shades. Her eyes were red and puffy from the crying she'd been doing all night.

"Wassup, how you been?” Jamie asked.

"Good I guess. You talked to Sage lately? "

"No, she ain't been answering my calls. But ion think she want to talk to you"

"I kinda figured" she laughed a little "Anyway, I wanted to talk to the both of you about Kennedy"

"What about him?"

Rosetta sighed "He's cheating on me" she mumbled "And I know how you used to get down before going to jail. I was wondering if you could take out the woman he's with"

"You can't be serious" Jamie mumbled "You want me to kill for you? And not the person I wanna kill but some woman who doesn't even know you exist?"

"Come on J, this is the only man that's ever really loved me. I'll be damned if someone comes between us"

"Like you came between him and his wife?"

"This isn't about her, it’s about me right now." She sighed "So will you do it?"

"The f**k you think? No, I'm not doin that s**t. You must be crazy if you thought I would"

Rosetta didn't say anything else as she stood up and grabbed her shades. She put them on "Then I'll do it myself"

Jamie shrugged "Go 'head. Same way you don't care bout Sage, ion care bout you"

She shook her head at him and looked at him in disgust "I should've swallowed you instead"

"You shoulda, hoe"
