With Ye Qing Cheng now accompanying them, the trio made their way toward the military facility. The sun was beginning to dip below the horizon, casting long shadows across the wreckage of the city. The world had fallen into an uneasy darkness, where survival was no longer just about fighting zombies—it was about fighting other people, too.
As they walked, Ye Qing Cheng filled them in on the Black Suns. The faction controlled much of the surrounding area, and they had a fortress near the military bunker. The Black Suns were known for their brutality and their obsession with controlling any valuable resources they could get their hands on.
“They’re not just your typical raiders,” Ye Qing Cheng explained. “They’ve got advanced technology—weapons, armor, even vehicles. They’re a threat. And they won’t hesitate to kill anyone who gets in their way.”
Lin Ye’s expression darkened. Advanced technology. That was something he hadn’t expected. It made sense, though. There were powerful factions in the world now, all vying for control of what was left of humanity.
“We don’t need to take them all on at once,” Ye Qing Cheng continued, her eyes flicking between them. “We’ll infiltrate the facility quietly, gather what we need, and leave before they know we were ever there.”
Qin Xue Ning nodded in agreement. “We’ll be ready. But if things go south, we fight.”
Lin Ye’s lips curled into a faint smile. “No problem. Let’s just make sure we don’t get caught.”
As they neared the facility, Lin Ye’s mind raced. The system in his mind had grown more powerful with each passing day, its rewards making him stronger and more skilled. But it wasn’t just physical strength that he needed now. He needed to outsmart the factions, use his power strategically.
Survival was no longer enough.
