The underground tunnel system was dimly lit, casting an eerie glow over their path. As they moved deeper into the complex, Lin Ye’s thoughts raced. They had narrowly escaped, but that escape had come with a heavy price. The Black Suns wouldn’t stop. Not now. Not after what they’d seen.
Ye Qing Cheng led the way, her expression tense. Lin Ye could sense her frustration, the quiet tension in her movements. Despite her usual composed demeanor, something about this mission had rattled her—perhaps it was the level of danger they were up against, or the sense of urgency that had permeated everything.
Qin Xue Ning was still scanning their surroundings with military precision, her hand resting near the holster of her weapon, ever alert.
"We can't keep running forever," Lin Ye muttered, glancing over at Ye Qing Cheng. "We need to know what we're dealing with. The information on that terminal—it’s far more than we expected."
Ye Qing Cheng didn’t respond immediately. Instead, she paused in front of a metal door, checking a console beside it. Her fingers worked swiftly, typing in a series of commands.
"I know," she replied finally, her voice low. "But that’s why we’re doing this. Project Alpha. It’s worse than we thought. This isn’t just about the outbreak. They’ve been planning something much bigger—something even more dangerous."
Lin Ye’s blood ran cold as she spoke. The revelation about Project Alpha had shaken him. It wasn’t just an experiment gone wrong—it was a weaponized virus, engineered by military powers, perhaps even the Black Suns themselves, as part of a much larger scheme.
The door clicked open, revealing a small, dimly lit room. Inside was a set of computer terminals, a large holographic map projected on the far wall. Lin Ye felt a sense of dread settle over him as they stepped inside.
"This is where they keep the central database," Ye Qing Cheng explained, her voice almost a whisper. "All the intel on the outbreak. The truth behind Project Alpha. The Black Suns have been using this as their headquarters for months. If we can access the data here, we’ll know everything."
Lin Ye didn’t need any further explanation. He stepped toward the terminal, his fingers already flying over the keyboard, his mind focused. He could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on him—this was it. This was the key to understanding the apocalypse, and possibly even the key to stopping it.
The screen flickered, loading files and maps as Lin Ye navigated through the system. His eyes widened as he uncovered more than he expected. The Black Suns were preparing for something catastrophic—the virus was just a part of a much larger plan. They were working to develop a weapon that could control not just the infected, but entire populations.
“This goes deeper than we imagined,” Lin Ye muttered. “They’re not just causing chaos—they’re planning to control it.”
Just as he was about to dive deeper into the files, the door to the room suddenly slammed shut, and the lights flickered.
Lin Ye’s heart skipped a beat. His instincts flared, his body tensing as he spun around.
A voice echoed from the darkness. "I’m afraid your little adventure ends here."
From the shadows, a figure stepped into the light—a tall man, dressed in a Black Suns uniform, with a cold, calculating smile on his face.
Lin Ye’s eyes narrowed. A leader of the Black Suns.
"You…" Lin Ye growled. "Who the hell are you?"
The man’s smile widened. “I’m someone you really don’t want to mess with. The name’s Zhang Wei, and I’m the one in charge here.” His eyes glinted with malice. “And I’m afraid you’re too late. The plan is already in motion.”
Ye Qing Cheng’s hand instinctively went for her sniper rifle, but Zhang Wei’s next words froze her in place.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” Zhang Wei said, his voice laced with venom. “I’m not alone. And if you think you can just waltz in here and take my secrets, you’re gravely mistaken.”
Lin Ye felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. This was a trap.
The walls around them suddenly lit up, revealing dozens of Black Suns soldiers, weapons drawn, surrounding them in every direction.
Zhang Wei continued, his voice mocking. "You really thought you could just waltz in and take what you wanted? You’re in way over your head."
Lin Ye’s mind raced, calculating their next move. He had to get them out of this, but it wasn’t going to be easy. There were too many of them. And Zhang Wei clearly knew exactly who they were.
“Seems like you’ve underestimated us,” Lin Ye said, his voice calm despite the rising tension. “If you think you can hold us, you’re in for a surprise.”
Qin Xue Ning stepped forward, her g*n now raised. "I don't care who you are. If you're with the Black Suns, you're the enemy."
Zhang Wei laughed darkly. “You think you can take on me? You’ve got guts, but they’ll be your downfall.”
Lin Ye looked at Ye Qing Cheng. There was no time to argue. They were outnumbered and outgunned. If they didn’t act fast, they would be overrun.
“Now!” Lin Ye shouted.
Qin Xue Ning opened fire, her bullets tearing through the air, striking two of the nearest soldiers. Ye Qing Cheng pulled out a grenade, tossing it toward the group of Black Suns. The explosion shook the room, sending debris flying in all directions.
Lin Ye didn’t wait for the dust to settle. He moved like a blur, his body a machine of calculated violence. His machete flashed through the air as he took down the nearest soldier with brutal efficiency. His senses were sharper than ever—he could feel every movement around him, every breath, every heartbeat.
Zhang Wei’s smug expression faltered for a moment as his soldiers began to fall, but he quickly regained his composure.
“You really think you can stop me?” he shouted, drawing a katana from his back. “I’m the leader of the Black Suns! You’re nothing!”
Lin Ye’s eyes narrowed as Zhang Wei charged at him, the blade slashing through the air with terrifying speed. Lin Ye parried with his machete, their blades clashing with a resounding clang.
“You’re just another obstacle,” Lin Ye said through gritted teeth, his eyes locking onto Zhang Wei’s.
The battle between the two men intensified, their blades flashing in the dim light as they exchanged blow after blow. The Black Suns soldiers continued to fight, but the tide was turning. Lin Ye and his group were gaining ground.
Lin Ye’s body moved with precision, each strike aimed to disable, not kill—he didn’t want to waste time with unnecessary bloodshed. But he knew that Zhang Wei wasn’t going to be easy to defeat.
“You’re a fool,” Zhang Wei sneered. “You’re all just pawns in a much larger game. You think you can stop the Black Suns? We are the future!”
Lin Ye’s eyes burned with resolve. “I don’t need to stop the Black Suns. I just need to take you down.”
In one swift movement, Lin Ye disarmed Zhang Wei, sending the katana skittering across the floor. Before Zhang Wei could react, Lin Ye’s machete was at his throat.
“You’re done,” Lin Ye said coldly.
Zhang Wei’s smirk faded. He knew it was over.
But just as Lin Ye prepared to end it, a sudden voice rang out, loud and commanding. “Enough!”
