54 Roger I stand on the deck of the rescue ship, a salty breeze whipping around me. Coast Guard officers rush around, helping survivors from the cruise liner. The sun beats down on my face, and I feel unsteady on my feet, a bone-deep exhaustion. The noise of those around us fades away, and the only sound is our hearts pounding. Abby lies on a stretcher, eyes distant as she takes in the scene before us. "Hard to believe it's over," she murmurs.
