I wake up the next morning in a fright. I bolt upright and search the room. All traces of Carter have disappeared. His phone isn’t on my bedside table, his shoes aren’t on the floor beside my bed. Disappointment floods through my body as I sink back into my bed. Why does it have to be Tuesday? I don’t want to leave this room ever again. Reluctantly, I get ready for work but I don’t put in as much effort as I usually would. I dress in black pants, a purple blouse, black cardigan and black ballet flats.
