The tyres come to a screeching halt and all I can see is a pair of bright white headlights. My hand instinctively reaches for the bonnet of the car to steady Scarlett and myself. I blink repetitively to try clear the white orbs filling my vision. “Scarlett?” I hear Adrian’s concerned voice. “Adrian! Thank god. Can you help me get her upstairs?” I plead as I look down at the badge on the front of the car. Aston Martin. Carter’s back and he nearly hit me with his car. “Of course! What happened?” He asks worryingly. “I’ll tell you once she’s safe.” I press. We walk towards the entrance together and I hear Carter’s tyres screech again as he goes to park the car. We wait for the elevator and when the doors roll open, I make eye contact with Carter. Jesus, I can’t deal with this right now.
