I jump out of the car and run over to my mother. I grab her by the shoulders and look into her damp hazel eyes that resemble mine so perfectly. “Mum, what’s wrong?” I ask nervously. “My bird flew away.” She pulls me into her embrace, her arms locking me in as she sobs into my chest. I shoot my dad an incredulous look over my mums shoulder. He shrugs at me. I pat my mum on the head until she calms down. “It’s okay mama.” I coo, using the name I used to call her when I was little. Carter has grabbed our bags from the boot and greets my dad with a hand shake. “Your home looks incredible. I can’t wait to see inside!” Carter says to him. “Come on in, we’ll give you the tour.” Dad replies proudly. “Let’s go inside mama.” I whisper. She keeps one arm around me as we walk inside the glass
