Joanne’s POV
I suppose I was used to secrecy, so I wasn’t surprised when Alexander requested that we keep my newfound abilities a secret. He left after that; not another word had been said between the two of us, and my heart tugged a little in his direction. A part of me wanted to follow him, to make sure we were still okay and that he wasn’t upset with me.
I guess that part of me will always remain; I was used to being in trouble… for others to be angry at me despite my best efforts to stay under the radar. I needed constant reassurance that it wasn’t the case with Alexander, but when he looked at me like I was the problem… like something was wrong with me, something we needed to keep secret, it broke me just a little more.
