Alexander’s POV
I was exhausted when I returned to the barracks this evening. I was surprised to see Joanne getting along so well with a few of the men. Honestly, if I were to choose any men for her to hang out with while here, it would be those three. They were good fighters, and they were a tight-knit group.
Conner, Ren, and Colin.
Conner and Colin were both married, and Ren had a committed girlfriend back at the capital, so none of them were threats in that department either. They were laughing at whatever Joanne had said, and Joanne was beaming with pride at having made three grown men laugh.
I was greeted by some of my soldiers, but I ignored them as I made my way towards Joanne. When she noticed me, her eyes lit up in a way that made my chest swell.
