Joanne’s POV I woke up in the middle of the night with a sharp pain in my shoulder blade, creeping along my chest. I let out a gasp and clutched my chest tightly, my fingers trembling. The pain was gone quickly, leaving me a panting mess. I looked beside me, part of me expecting Alexander to be there, but he wasn’t. Then I remembered he had left last night, and I had no idea when he was coming back. I wasn’t able to get back to sleep, though I tried for the next few hours.
