Brian brought two cups of coffee to the booth where Angie sat. He positioned himself across from her, looking at her concerned face. “You wanted to tell me something?”
“Yes. I went to visit James in the hospital.”
“Yeah, so you said.”
“I did it because I felt responsible.” She took a sip of coffee. “I don’t know if I told you that or not.”
He gave her a curious expression. “How in the world are you responsible?”
“He got beat up because of me. Josh was jealous, or over-protective, I’m not sure which. Maybe just nasty,” she said, bringing the cup to her lips again. “If I hadn’t mentioned the attention James was giving me, Josh wouldn’t have known anything. So, I’m responsible.”
