The restaurant Walt chose was the kind of place that didn’t have a dress code because it didn’t need one — booths worn soft from years of use, a menu unchanged since 2003, and a back room the Renegades had apparently been reserving after wins ever since Hank Whitlock decided, sometime in the nineties, that a team that ate together stayed together. Sienna arrived ten minutes late because she’d been on a call with Marty’s attorneys and hadn’t been able to get off gracefully, and when she walked into the back room sixty men looked up at once. Then Tommy Burke started clapping. It lasted about four seconds before everyone joined in, which was long enough to be embarrassing and short enough to be genuine, and she stood in the doorway for a moment not entirely sure what to do with her face.
