“Hello, Mister Doctor?”
“Yes,” John said to the kid who had called him.
“This is Tim.”
John stiffened. Why was Cassie’s son calling to speak to him? “Hey, Tim, where is your mommy?”
“I-I don’t know and I’m scared. She told me the doctor where she worked would always help me if I needed it and I was to only call in the case of emergencies. I don’t know but it might be one of those.”
John stiffened thinking Cassie probably meant for Tim to call Harry. He was alone at the clinic and Cassie had left an hour ago.
“Where are you? What happened?”
“N-nothing. I’m at home, but Mommy hasn’t come home yet and she always comes home before dark. And it’s dark now and I don’t know what to do, Mister Doctor.”
