Felix settled into a bench outside the bakery and was soon joined by Molly carrying two sandwiches and two bottles of water. Felix barely remembered his manners, thanking Molly seconds before he shoved the food into his mouth. He hadn’t realized how ravenous he was. He was neatly folding the paper wrapping that had been around his sandwich before Molly had finished a couple of bites. “Best count your fingers there, son,” she said. “Hrmph?” Felix said before swallowing and trying again. “Huh?” “The way you gobbled that down, I thought maybe you got a couple of your fingers, too.” “Ha ha.
