Chapter 10
The night passed in a blur. Felix found out later that despite Ronan’s fear that the excitement was going to be too much for him in his fragile condition, Lorcan rose to meet the crisis—he helped direct the fire brigade onto the property and worked with the soot-covered Kiva to round up the goats. According to Lorcan, every single goat had survived including the mother and her two kids who, like Felix, came around quickly enough in the cool night air.
Felix had refused any medical treatment and after his scraped hands and knees were cleaned up, he collapsed onto the couch and slept dreamlessly, the blackened bottoms of his feet sticking out of the covers.
