LISA'S POV By the time dinner ended, I found myself smiling more than I had expected. As we stood from the table, I looked around the quiet mansion. I had been so busy trying not to embarrass myself with the different sets of cutlery that I hadn't even realized how tired I was. My body was beginning to remind me that it had been one of the longest days of my life. The house staff moved quietly around the dining room, clearing away the plates as though they had practiced the routine a thousand times. Not a single plate made a loud sound against the table. Everything was done with such ease that it almost looked rehearsed. Only this morning, I had woken up in the tiny apartment I shared with my mother. Tonight, I will be sleeping in a room bigger than the home I left behind. Charles
