It felt good to be home. Some days, there’s no better place than home. The scent of sweet BBQ chicken greeted me when I opened the door, a perfect smell on a scorching summer day. I forgot I had tossed all the ingredients into the crock pot before heading to the bookstore. I wandered into the one-level cottage, admiring the cleanliness. No clutter tucked in corners to be dealt with later. On my off days, I vacuumed the carpet, Swifered the linoleum floors, and dusted all the rooms. Shoes were kept in our closets. Dishes went into the dishwasher rather than pile high in the sink. It had taken some time to accept Teresa’s mess at the bookstore.
