The welcoming smell of hot food hit me hard. It was so strong that I practically tasted the tender meat. I went straight to Sasha’s table before a server stopped me. Up close she looked nice. No gamer or graphic T-shirt or super short shorts, but a nice summer dress. “Hi,” I said sitting in the empty chair across from her. Her citrus perfume nearly overpowered the restaurant’s smell. Sasha looked taken back and checked out the window. “How have you been?” I started, hoping she wouldn"t chase me off. “I’ve been worried about you.” Her face brightened. “You have?” No. “Yes,” I lied. “The police have been struggling to solve the case. I wondered if they’ve been pestering you as they have with me.” No.Sasha shrugged nonchalantly. “Doris had it coming. You knew that.” No remorse, I noted.
