I drove us to my grandparent’s house. Like the previous car ride with Jane, she talked non-stop about cleaning Teresa’s home, which had more clutter than the bookstore. I tuned her out. When Stone heard that Jane was with me, he wanted her to come too and for us to hurry. His urgency made me think Sheriff Estep was on his way to question me again, just like he had done with Jane. Was I officially a suspect now? Or was there new evidence pointing to another person? Did Stone have some questions for Jane? Before I knew it, I pulled into the driveway, and parked. Grandma and Stone were sitting in their rockers, waiting. Their lack of joy made me more worried. This was serious. I introduced Jane to my grandparents. She greeted them with a handshake. I sensed my family already knew everything
