Princess greeted us when we entered the bookstore. She snaked between our legs, purring. Butterscotch, on the other hand, glared daggers while sitting next to her half-full food dish. As I refilled the cat"s bowls, Jane sat in the reading nook with her new book open across her lap. Once the cats were fed, I brushed off Princess’s fur, and sat in the second chair. My body eased into the comfy chair. I didn’t realize how much my legs ached until that moment. Other than having an hour to myself at home and after running into Leo at Dessert Bar, this was the first time I had stopped. It felt great, yet more sleuthing needed to be done. “I’m almost done with this chapter,” Jane said, flipping through the pages before returning to her spot.
