~~Two Weeks Later~~ OPHELIA’S POV: I arrived at Julian’s house early that morning with my bags. I waited in the car while preparing his schedule for the time we’ll be there. A message came through my phone and I looked out, up to the glass house next to me. I saw Julian upstairs beckoning to me to come over. I immediately dropped the tablet and stepped out when the seatbelt violently pulled me back in “Oh, damn” I unbuckled it and headed inside immediately. The floors of the penthouse looked clean as water and delicate like glass that I took my steps carefully. Julian’s life didn’t match his house. Unlike his heart, his house was in order and clean. Ashley met me first before I headed up to Julian. She stopped me and then Julian’s warning flashed in my mind. If he gets married to this woman, not only is he cooked but I am too “You look overly excited to go on this trip” she said, her arms crossed over her chest “Hm, it’s a longtime summit we’ve looked out for in years, of course I’m excited” I said with a smile. Ashley kept that look of disgust on me then stepped closer “Don’t overstep your boundaries with Julian” she said to my ears and walked away, shoulder bumping me. Because of her, sometimes I feel accomplished with what happened between Julian and I. But I just won’t forgive myself for doing that. I went up to Julian’s study, spacious and beautiful, the cityscape stretched over. “Did you meet Kris yesterday? I told him to handle somethings” he said, fixing his cufflinks “Yes, I did. I mailed it to you, didn’t you get it?” I leaned over to his laptop to check “It’s right here” I said. In a second, he was leaned next to me, his string arm brushing mine. For a spilt moment, I felt weak. “I didn’t see that” he said while my eyes remained on him, scanning every bit of his face “Did you review it?” he looked at me. My heart really jumped then I looked away “I haven’t but I will” “Meet me downstairs” he said and walked away, his steps echoed behind me. I grabbed his laptop and headed downstairs and caught a sight I shouldn’t have. Did they really have to kiss if someone’s there? “When will you be back?” Ashley asked, her hand hovering over his chest “I don’t know. It might take a while” he said. Fucking bastard! It’ll only take three days. Are you planning on meeting another woman there? Whatever, he always did that. We left for the airport soon and it didn’t take as much time as normal since Julian was known across the city and beyond. Flex. We settled in the plane but this man would not just stop tasking me like man, we’re on a plane to transit not to f*****g work! I felt sick the moment the plane took off. I wasn’t usually flight sick but this just made me as nauseous as ever. I went into the restroom to calm myself. I needed fresh air and it’s definitely not in this cramped place. Why didn’t he just take his private jet, why does he f*****g stress me every single time? I stayed a bit longer in there hoping it wasn’t what I was thinking. I got back to my seat soon and he turned to look at me. I avoided his face and looked out the window then his finger turned my face back to him “Are you okay?” he asked. He rarely asks me that. Oh the way my hands went cold “You look sick” he said. I took my face from his hand and nodded “I’m fine” I said and looked away again. ~Evening. We arrived at our destination soon and a private chauffeur came to pick us up in a black sleek car. I grabbed my bag to place it in the car, Julian’s hand stopped me “Let him do it. You look like you’ll fall apart soon” he said and the chauffeur took my bag. We were on our way to a private suite when Julian requested a stop at a hospital “I’m fine, really” I said but he ignored every single word. We walked into the hospital and while the doctor examined me, he waited out. I stepped out of that examination room with relief all over my face. Of course I had used contraceptives that day, it wasn’t what I was thinking. I met Julian who was seated a little too comfortable, the doctor came behind me and decided to announce my reports to Julian “I’m glad” he said, glancing at me briefly. I’m more than glad. Who knows what will have happened if I got pregnant and velvet is somehow pregnant because someone decided to go raw on me. We walked through the corridors of the hospital when someone called out to me “Lia?”. I froze in steps. My eyes slowly lifting from the floor. Julian already turned then I followed. He walked towards us with that annoying smile from four years ago. Leonardo Winchester. What the hell is he doing here? Please walk away, please. “Woah, who thought we’d ever meet again?” his eyes darted to the sign above up which stated “Gynecology/obstetrics”. Not helping. While I thought whether to deny him or just walk away, Leo turned to Julian. Oh goodness, what is he going to do now? He huffed at Julian “Do you two know each other?” he asked. Leo? I looked at Julian who had that look I had never seen before. Not anger. Not mockery, something else Julian didn’t say a word. Leo looked back at me “Don’t tell me you two are together” he chuckled. I was about to object when Julian cut in and took my hand “We are. Do you have a problem with that?” a playful smirk curved his lips. Leo’s light expression changed “Lia, you knew it was him right?” he asked. What is he even talking about? “You knew he was my brother that’s why you left me?” he said. “Brother?” my brows relaxed “Them?” I looked at Julian who didn’t give a damn about what he just said. This i***t! That damned i***t! Can he ever keep his mouth shut? I felt Julian’s grip loosen. “Have you no shame?” he turned to Julian “No, I shouldn’t be surprised, you always take my leftover anyways” he said. I snapped. “Leftover?” I shoved him backwards by his shoulder but Julian pulled me back to himself. My back hit his hard chest. I felt his body muscles beneath those clothes “Let him be” he said softly and turned to leave with me. I took my hand from Julian’s and walked ahead of him angrily. I stopped in front of the hospital, processing everything while Julian settled somethings behind. How are they brothers? Is that fool lying again? I stared into nothing thinking of how they might be related. Or did he mean friends like brothers? I fixed my face before Julian came over. He said nothing and just got into the car. It was a silent ride to the house. When we got there, Julian went in first as the chauffeur unloaded the car. Why do I feel like I owe him an explanation? Even with the panic in my veins, I still got chills from our sudden contact at the hospital and the one-minute relationship. ~Night. I was working in my room then Julian sent a text inviting me to his. I placed the tablet aside and swallowed. Why the sudden invite? I stood in front of his door and took the courage to knock. At the first knock, the door flew open. Julian was standing there like he had been expecting, Of course he had. He snatched me in and closed the door behind. I stood by the door while he walked over to his bed “Who is Leo to you?” he asked. For a heartbeat, I fainted and woke up. “Someone I unfortunately knew” I said, my head lowered “Who exactly?” he tilted his head. I found it difficult to answer. The words were like stone in my throat “Who?” “My ex…husband” I confessed. I heard that distant sigh from him “And why did you keep it away from me?” “I didn’t. it just didn’t make sense to talk about it to someone who I didn’t know was his brother” I shot straight at him. He was silent for a while then spoke “We’re not exactly brothers, it’s complicated” he took a seat on his bed. “Everything is complicated” I muttered “I heard he got divorced but I didn’t expect it to be someone so close. Why?” he asked looking at me with a less authoritative look. After bottling it up for years, I finally spoke to Julian about it. The last person I thought I’d ever mention Leo to was him. Julian laughed softly like he found the story amusing or what? “you lasted longer with Leo, his other ex-wives didn’t spend a year” his grey eyes met mine as he got up. I never cared about Leo but now I seemed interested that he had other wives aside me. Julian stepped closer to me, his gaze didn’t shift from me “Now I’m curious about who you really are to get a reaction out of Leo” My back hit the cold wall as Julian held his hand to the wall, leaned down to me “What really are you, Ophelia Monroe?” he asked. Is he really asking me that? Is he asking me as Leo’s Ex-wife or…Velvet? Either ways, I’m not saying anything “Do I look like some alien that dropped to earth?” I muttered under my breath while looking down to the floor. He grabbed my chin, lifting my face to his, his eyes casting that lustful look on me. Under those eyes, I felt naked. I needed to get out before I blew up.
