3 Kate listened to Don’s rhythmic breathing. Careful not to disturb her husband, she slipped out of bed and tiptoed from the room. The house was silent in the early morning hour. On a typical day, she would be in the kitchen at What’s Perkin’ up to her elbows in batter.
