Kate lay awake for most of the night with one question weighing on her mind. Why hadn’t Peyton told Don she was pregnant? It would have changed things for all of them but at least Owen would have grown up with a father. She was finally drifting off to sleep but the nagging question invaded her dreams.
“Kate, hush, it’s just a bad dream. Everything is going to be fine.”
Her eyes flew open and found Don’s deep brown eyes filled with concern. “Don!” she cried.
He pulled her to his chest, smoothing her hair. “You were thrashing and crying out, ‘no,’ over and over. Do you want to talk about it?”
She shook her head.
“It’s over now.”
