Episode 7: After the First Kiss

772 Words
The moment their lips met… Everything else disappeared. Isabella felt it instantly—the warmth, the intensity, the undeniable pull that had been building since the night they met. It wasn’t rushed, it wasn’t careless… it was slow, deep, and filled with something neither of them could ignore anymore. Her fingers instinctively curled into the front of his shirt, holding onto him like she needed something to steady herself. And Daniel… He didn’t pull away. Not immediately. His hand remained gently against her face, as if he was afraid she might disappear the second he let go. When he finally did pull back, it wasn’t far. Their foreheads rested together, both of them breathing unevenly. Silence followed. But it wasn’t empty. It was full of everything they had just felt. --- Isabella opened her eyes slowly, her heart still racing. “That…” she started, then stopped. She didn’t even know how to describe it. Daniel watched her closely, his expression softer than she had ever seen it before. “Yeah,” he said quietly. “Exactly.” A small, nervous smile formed on her lips. “This is… a bad idea.” “Probably,” he admitted. “But you’re not walking away.” She hesitated. Then shook her head. “No.” --- That one word changed everything. --- Daniel stepped back slightly, running a hand through his hair as if trying to regain some control. But it was already too late. The distance between them didn’t make things easier. If anything… It made her want to close it again. “We should slow down,” Isabella said, even though her body felt like it disagreed. Daniel looked at her for a moment, then nodded. “We should.” Neither of them moved. --- “Then why does it feel like we won’t?” she asked softly. A faint smile touched his lips. “Because we won’t.” Her breath caught again. There it was. That honesty. That dangerous, undeniable truth between them. --- Isabella turned away slightly, trying to collect her thoughts. “This isn’t like me,” she admitted. “I don’t just… meet someone and…” “And feel like this?” Daniel finished for her. She nodded slowly. “Yeah.” He stepped closer again, but this time, there was a calmness in his movement. Less tension. More intention. “You don’t have to explain it,” he said. “I feel it too.” --- That made it harder. Because now she knew— It wasn’t one-sided. It wasn’t just her losing control. It was both of them. --- “Five minutes,” she whispered again, almost to herself. Daniel let out a soft chuckle. “You’re still holding onto that?” “It makes me feel better.” “Does it?” She looked up at him. “A little.” --- He studied her face, his expression thoughtful. “Then stay longer,” he said quietly. Her heart skipped. “Daniel…” “No pressure,” he added quickly. “Just… stay.” There was something different in his voice this time. Not confident. Not teasing. But almost… Vulnerable. --- And that was what made her decide. --- “Okay,” she said softly. Daniel didn’t react immediately. But the slight relief in his eyes didn’t go unnoticed. --- Time passed differently after that. Slower. Quieter. More intimate. They talked—really talked this time. About small things. Safe things. But even in those simple conversations, there was something deeper forming. Something real. --- Hours later, Isabella stood by the door, her bag in her hand. “I should go,” she said. Daniel nodded, though his eyes didn’t leave hers. “Yeah.” Neither of them moved to open the door. --- “This doesn’t change anything,” she said, even though she wasn’t sure she believed it. Daniel tilted his head slightly. “It changes everything.” Her breath caught again. --- He stepped closer one last time, stopping just inches away. “Be careful with me, Isabella,” he said softly. The words surprised her. “Why?” His gaze held hers. “Because I don’t think I can do this halfway.” Her heart tightened. Neither could she. --- And that was the problem. --- She left a few minutes later. But as she stepped out into the night, one thing was already clear— That kiss wasn’t just a moment. It was the beginning of something deeper. Something stronger. Something neither of them would be able to walk away from easily. And now… There was no pretending anymore.
