CHAPTER THREE The very next day Debbie realized what a nightmare prison she was in. She was transferred to a deep cell down near some water. She could hear the sound of the water and across from her she saw some snakes. This really got her upset. She was fearful they would slither over to her cell. Somehow they were protected by a screen which did not permit them to move into the hall or over to her cell. Nevertheless, she could hear them hissing. And it was this, combined with the darkness and the sound of the trickling water that made her think she was losing her mind. If there was one thing that she hated about the torment that she had to experience now, it was the uncertainty of it all. For she realized, as never before, that she had no way out.
