Aurelia’s POV The patient in Room 20 turned out to be a young soldier named Liam. He couldn’t have been older than twenty, maybe twenty-one at most. His uniform was half torn, blood soaking through the fabric around his upper arm, and his face was pale beneath a sheen of sweat. The moment I entered, the nurse who’d been holding pressure on the wound looked up with visible relief. “Looks like a clean slice, probably from training,” she murmured. “But he lost a lot of blood. He’s been in and out.” I stepped closer, slipping gloves over my hands, and crouched beside the bed. “Liam, is it?” The soldier blinked slowly at me, his eyes the soft gray of rain clouds. “You’re… glowing.” I smiled. “That’s just the overhead light.
