I was in the house, resting on the couch as I thought of what to prepare for dinner. Nick was watching some cartoon on the TV, help keep him distracted as I got lost in my thoughts. It was my birthday but other than the random bouquet of lilies and a box of chocolate I got at my new job, which I didn't think I was going to get the job but was grateful to have, I hadn’t gotten any other gifts.
