  A loud banging on the door woke me up the next day. At first, I ignored it, praying that whoever was the culprit would take the silent answer as a cue and leave but the sound only intensified. When the knocking was beginning to give me a headache, I forced myself out of bed to turn whoever was at the door away.   I opened the door just as Xavier was about to knock again.
