Chapter 14Gawen and I were nursing a couple of fruit smoothies and nibbling on trail mix, watching an old Alien rerun on the Holo-vid screen in my suite for “research purposes” when my dad barged in. His hair was wild, his violet eyes shining brightly even though he wasn’t in the dark. They locked onto me with purpose.
“Good, you’re here. No one’s answering their chats, had me worried. Where’s your brother?”
“Um, probably in the caf. Or maybe still outside training with Jules.”
“With Jules?” That last bit caught my dad off guard. Apparently even he had noticed the tension between them.
“Yeah.” I sat up, putting my food down on the table and smiling brightly. “She’s turning earth fae, can you believe it? She’s got powers, Dad! Real powers!”
