Janice sat in the living room awaiting her sisters return, it's been seven weeks since they moved into this house and they been nothing less than bless, with king in police custody, candice had no fear but to add to her joy, Ryan had chosen her to be the vice president of pride enterprises, so she can learn from him directly, he inten to quit at the end of the said there months then nominate her, although her love life is still on a snag, it isn't really terrible she sees Kyle, talk to him politely, even invite him for dinner but they haven't taken their relationship further, but it's okay to say they are good friends, the kids are doing well in school and everything is okay, she put the letter down, on it was one logo she never pray to see again, she heaved, king was getting out of jail, due to ill health, this is like handful of pebbles in her batter but even that isn't enough to ruin her mood, she flipped the later again, it was definitely the casino logo but why will they be interested in informing them of kings release, their relationship with them ended a couple of weeks free after the birth of the kids....except.... except if Candice still kept in touch with them.....she pray not but it was the only logic that made sense, if she had kept in touch with them then that was probably where she got the money to buy the shares, she remembers clearly, Victory had offered them money in return for their silence, she had rejected it and walked away but had kept the secret anyway, Candice and Shelby had also walked away with her ...but if...just if they had returned and strike another deal, she heaved and shook her head it better not be true.
"Hey sis." candice smiled at her sister as she entered the house, she jolt three steps forward then turned around when she didn't get any reaction from her sister, "Janice? Is everything okay?" she put her jacket and bag on the couch.
Janice looked at her sister angrily then pushed the envelope forward.
Candice gasped as she noticed the logo, she took a couple of steps forward, then look at her sister
"Tell me what I'm thinking isn't true..."
She picked the letter, "what exactly did it say?"
"What it says doesn't matter." she stood, "what it says doesn't matter, I'm asking you a question, how long have you two been keeping contact?"
"I ...I... It's isn't that way, I..."
"Where did you get the money to buy pride shares."
Candice squeezed her face.
"Wow, you took his money."
"Janice, I..."
"You took money from the man who wanted to sell your kids."
"Janice, at that time I had no choice."
"You had a choice, you could have chosen to raise your kids without his money and not go after the pride family, we did well, we did better that others, we passed..." she move closer while Candice moved backward simultaneously, "successfully but no... you couldn't let it go at that, you endangered your kids life just to get even with your enemies, if you were going to get even why didn't you go to the police, you ....you ..bargain... bargain with the life of your kids, you put our kids life in danger, what if Victory had come after them?"
"He wouldn't." she stopped moving.
Janice hit her across her face just as the door rang.
Candice took the second hesitation in Janice to regain her balance, "I know you are mad right now but, I'll tell you everything, I'll explain everything to you."
"No." Janice looked at her, "you had your chance all this while, and you missed use every one of it."
"No, I didn't want to ruin the peace and..."
"You just did." she walked to the door and opened it.
"Hi." Ryan said but she didn't even looked at him.
"Get out, I refused to live with someone whose stuck in the past and refuses to move on."
"Janice, I'm.."
"Headed towards self ruin and also determined to take your love ones with you, get out." she pulled her and threw her out, "I refused to watch that happen." then she shut the door.
Candice landed in Ryan's arm. "are you okay?" he asked.
She heaved as she balance herself, "not as much as i had expected, so it's kind of fine." she smiled then turn away.
"Wait, I can..."
"Don't bother, except you want to be kicked out too."
"But why did she... What happened just now?"
"You can try asking her but..." she shrugged, "I wouldn't advice it." she walked away slowly.
Ryan shook his head then walked in, he met Janice on the floor crying, he ran to her side, "Janice, what happened?, why are you crying?" he hugged her tight and comforted her, after a while she stopped crying then stood.
"Here." Ryan handed her a glass of water.
"Thank you." she sip out of it then returned to the glass to the kitchen.
"What happened, what did you two fight about?"
"Nothing." she shrugged then went to the living room and put on the television.
"Come on, it can't be nothing, you threw her out of the house and broke down and cried, I've seen you cry before but never have you ever broken down like this."
"Well, it's nothing."
"Seriously, it nothing and you kick her out without her bag or phone, heaven, she doesn't even have a decent clothes on, her jacket is by the sofa, in case you haven't noticed, she has no where else to go and if she does, she doesn't have the fare to get there and she will soon be cold, it not exactly summer you know, it's February."
"I said it's nothing." she stood suddenly.
"Come on, I just..."
She went to the door and opened it, "you should leave."
"Sorry, I wouldn't..."
"You really should..." she went to him and pulled him, "you should go, I need to be alone tonight."
"Come here." he pull her but she wasn't having any of it.
"Thanks for the love but the door is opened." she pushed him out, "thanks for comings." she slammed the door on him then returned to her room.
*****
"Hey!" Kyle exclaimed as he collided, with Ryan, "you are early, I thought you are spending the night with Janice and the kids."
"Well, I got kicked out."
"What?" he chuckled, "what did you do?"
He punched him lightly on the shoulder, "it's your girlfriend's fault."
"Why?, what did she do?"
He shrugged then dumbed his jacket on the couch, "I don't know."
"What do you mean, you don't know."
"Exactly what it means, I do not know, I tried finding out then got kicked out for pokenosing."
Kyle chuckled, "she's really being strict with you." he patted his shoulder then went to the bar to get him a drink, "you know it like they tend to plan it, when Candice is relax and no longer on her guard, Janice is super alert." he uncork the wine and picked a glass, "here." he poured Ryan a glass, "you can enjoy this, though I doubt anything in this house could be of good company but don't worry, when I return, hopefully not today but when I return, I'll sooth your bored mind with tales of my sweet night, tsk." he signed, "it a big pity though."
"Last valentine we where all busy and got our date cancel due to work emergency but this year, I was really hoping we get to spend the night in the arms of our love ones." he heaved, then patted Ryan shoulder, "no worries there are many more night to come." he chuckled.
"Are you comforting me or mocking me?" Ryan looked at him.
He laughed, "of course I'm mocking you, you always make jest of me when Candice ignore me, now that you got dish your ass, you bet I'm glad." he laughed then sobered "but on a serious note, I'll try to know why from Candice."
Ryan chuckled, "if I were you, I'll grab another glass and join me."
"And give up my date, no thanks, why the hell would I even do that?"
"Cause you've got no date."
"Meaning?"
"It's just as I've said, it means you've got no date, Janice was very angry at Candice that she threw her out of the house without her phone, bag, purse or even her Jacket, I went in to convince her not to be so harsh and got thrown out too, when I got out Candice was no where to be seen."
"What?, then where is she?"
He shrugged, "I don't know but she will not be in the mood for a date, nor will she even remember, she will be too bothered by Janice reaction, so grabbed your glass and join me."
He looked at him suspiciously, "I'll call her." he called her multiple times but she didn't pick her call, he looked over at Ryan.
"I told you." he shrugged.
"f**k this!" he unknot his tie then grimace as he took his seat
