Chapter 18

1268 Words
Sarah had become an obsession for him. She was his ‘special asset’….. he had invested so much of himself into training her….. moulding her into a perfect weapon but she  betrayed him. Not only did she have the gall to escape…. she also cheated him out of the satisfaction of killing her with his own hands.    He had wanted to punish her for daring to go against him. Oh, how he would’ve relished extracting her organs one by one…. making sure she stays alive for as long as possible to feel  maximum pain…. nothing less would do. He even hoped that she has survived so he can have the pleasure of killing her with his own hands… and kill her he would … again and again…… it was only fair, her life was his ….. he should be the one to take it.     Sarah was feeling very restless, it was as if her whole body was on fire. She wanted to call out to Hope for help but it seemed like she was frozen….. she could not move her body, nor could she speak out loud but her brain was working over fast. Her entire body was vibrating with some kind of energy, yet she has never felt as weak as she did in that moment. She could feel darkness surrounding her from all sides….. with one final attempt she called out to Hope before she lost herself to the dark.     Hope was finally able to sleep without worrying about Sarah leaving them. Earlier today Sarah and Luke had started looking at the data she had downloaded from the organization. She was feeling so relaxed… so peaceful that she went into a deep sleep. She was dreaming of flowers and rainbows and the beauty of nature all around her when suddenly the sky turned an angry shade of dark and then everything was covered in blood…. and then there was Sarah… she was in distress…. could not move and she was screaming for Hope, to save her….. help her.     It was so vivid…. so real, unlike anything she has ever felt before. There was a sense of urgency in Sarah’s voice …. She could swear she even heard Sarah scream and beg for help. Strange or not, she could not ignore this dream … this feeling of dread … she had to ensure that Sarah was all right ….. so she ran towards her room… forgetting to put on her robe… even leaving her slippers behind.     As she entered the room… she stood frozen looking at the scene before her. Sarah was lying on the bed so restless, her face so pale and sweaty. There was froth coming out from her mouth … Hope could not move her legs.. Just then, Sarah’s body jerked…  shaking uncontrollably… it seemed as if  Sarah was having seizures… this prompted Hope into immediate action.    She began shouting for her mom even as she ran towards Sarah. Hope turned Sarah’s body sideways so that she could breathe easily and started timing the seizures…..      Abby rushed into the room, scared and panicked listening to her baby scream like her world was ending. It took her a few precious seconds to collect herself and concentrate on Sarah. Abby made Hope step aside and took her spot to monitor Sarah’s symptoms, while she asked Hope to call Luke so he could help carry Sarah down, towards the medical room.    Soon Luke and Susan both rushed into the room, just in time to see Sarah go still….. very very still. There was a new kind of urgency in Abby’s orders to rush Sarah downstairs. Hope wanted to beg her mom to tell what was wrong with Sarah? She wanted assurance that her friend would be fine but the urgency in her mother’s voice and actions was quite telling.    As Luke carried Sarah in his arms, Abby ran ahead of them to call for the lift. Susan walked over to Hope and hugged her tightly… “sshh…. Calm down baby, your mom is the best doctor I know. She will be able to get Sarah up and running in no time at all. Now, wipe those tears so we can also follow them downstairs to find out what’s going on”, with that Susan turned to leave the room with a demure Hope following behind her.    Abby was stumped, Sarah has gone into coma…. again. She had run a full body scan, did complete blood work…. had various electrodes attached to monitor Sarah’s brain…. a heart and blood pressure monitor….. everything that could help her determine the reason behind this sudden attack. Abby was really confused looking at the unusual activity of her brain. Typically the brain works at it’s lowest stage of alertness when someone goes into coma but Sarah’s brain was displaying an unusual level of alertness and continuous activity.   It became even more complicated to determine the cause for this sudden illness when all of her blood tests came back normal….. well, normal for Sarah that is.  Abby understood that unlike her straightforward injuries before, this time it’s not going to be an easy task to solve this puzzle. She will need to dig deeper….. conduct more tests, even take some tissue samples, maybe they will give her some clue.      Abby took samples of everything she could think of….. tissue, more blood, urine… fluids from her spinal cord and various other joints…. she even took a sample of her bone marrow. The more information she has, the better her chances would be of finding out the cause of this coma as soon as possible…. So far she has kept everyone outside while she worked on Sarah…. she had no idea what to tell the others….. to Hope, once she leaves this room.   Abby sent a quick message to Luke, asking him to review all the data Sarah had managed to download from the organization and find out if there was any mention of an experiment done on Sarah or if they had maybe tested some medicine on her…. anything that could offer more clues. She has never felt as helpless as she did right at that moment….. not just as a doctor but as a mother too….   (Back in New Mexico) He was looking at the timeline, If that b***h was alive…. Somewhere out there , then right about now her body would be showing the results of the very last ‘treatment’ he had tried out on her. He knew it would work on her…. with anyone else he would have to wait and see the results but with her, he knew it would be successful….. after all no one knew her better than he did. If she is alive then he needs to find her and kill her before she finds out exactly how ‘special’ she has become . If she learns to use her ‘special abilities’ then she would be virtually unstoppable
