They stopped in the locker rooms to wash up. Ross led her to the counter where they chose freshly made and wrapped sandwiches, bags of chips, and fruit from a restaurant-sized steel bowl. Bottled drinks filled two vertical coolers with glass-fronted doors, which stood next to an espresso machine and fountain drink dispenser. They sat in plastic chairs pulled up to round tables that folded in half for storage.
“The food is good, and the furniture is utilitarian. The space is used for dances and workshops and large meetings,” Ross said.
