“Nathalie Rosette Lovett Foster!” I had someone call my government names
“Just five more minutes,” I said, groaning
“You've been saying that for the past thirty minutes” my eyes widened at her reply
“Why didn't you wake me up, I'm going to be late” I threw my sheets away
“Why didn't I wake up? I've been waking you up for the past thirty-two minutes” he shouted.
“Whatever” I ran to the bathroom and had the quickest shower I've ever had. I quickly got ready for work and left.
I ran as fast as I could to the boardroom
“Nice of you to join us Miss Foster” My boss, my day spoiler, my mood spoiler said.
“Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. I'm sorry I'm late,” I said seating down
“You're ten minutes late,” he said in an earnest tone
“There was heavy traffic,” I said plainly
“Oh it is my fault that there was traffic? It's your duty to wake up early and avoid traffic”
Gosh this was starting to irk me.
“Excuse me, sir and correct me if I'm wrong but...did I… blame you?”
People in the room gasped and looked at me as if I had said the most insane thing on Earth.
“Please continue” he urged the person who was presenting.
And after the presentation, everyone approved
“Little Miss we don't have all you are a shareholder, and you are the COO we need your approval on this so please stop zoning out” everyone turned to me.
Just what I needed!
“Me? Spacing out?”
“Look it's a nice project though it requires a little touch up it's nice and impressive really. But you can see, on the first page, a summary of our completed projects for which we are yet to receive payment. Though the department is obligated to that, which our recovery team is working hard on that there are to be a few hiccups. Since we're still waiting for their response we can't go through with this project knowing this” I said,
“What are you precisely saying Little Miss,” he asked my horrible boss!
“That we bound to go bankrupt! If this carries on big Sir” I said, looking directly into his eyes
“Meeting adjourned,” he said, with that, everyone packed up and left the boardroom.
“Wait up Little Miss” I stopped in my tracks
“Follow me,” he said, walking past me a simple can we go to my office would be great. But no, he just has to be mean
“Sit,” he said as sat down too.
“I prefer standing thanks,” I said
“So everything you said…” I cut him off quickly before he could ask me questions
“Everything that you need to know will be answered by the recovery department, it's their duty,” I said plainly
“Well I just wanted to confirm that you are sure of what you were uttering in the boardroom …oh yeah! And choose a different outfit tomorrow, this one and the other from yesterday… they're painful to my eyes” I huffed.
Who does he think he is? Dictating what and what not I should wear?
“How is that my problem?”
“Here in this office we have a dress code, that you will follow of course also no heels wear flats or sandals at least they don't have a clicking sound” I chuckle.
“Listen here I will wear from tomorrow pink, green, white, peachy… every color I want and heels too, let's see what you'll do” I say folding my arms.
“Cupcake, do you want to be jobless?” He asks and I flinch.
“You will not threaten my job, you will…”
“Then you will obey the rules laid by me here, every one who's an employee here wears black, let me rather say dark clothes, and no heels for women. Understand?” I fake a smile,
“You are out of your mind.” I walk out.
It's only been two days since I've known him, but I already scorn him like he's my long-time enemy.
I go to my office and start with cleaning, I tried cleaning yesterday, but I couldn't today I'm not swamped with countless tasks, so I need to get things in order.
The office was beautiful with a glass window. For some annoying reason, Mr. Annoying boss in there could see me, but of course, I couldn't see him.
But it was so masculine, brown couch, black table, so not my type of style and plus if I sell this equipment I'll get enough to both save it and buy the equipment that I desire.
My phone rings,
“I'm here with the furniture, but the people at the receptionist are prohibiting us from coming up, apparently light colors are barred here” I sigh.
“Okay bestie pass me to the receptionist”
“Hello”
“Hi listen I hear there's a misunderstanding down there. I spoke with the boss. He let me have that furniture bought. He just went to the boardroom right now, I'd let you call him” I lied.
“Okay, why all the drama?” Kelly says as she gets in.
“My boss… It is a long story. Help me decorate this whole place” I say, getting from dads chair. It is the only thing I didn't get rid of.
“Kelly, this is the couch we stole in high school” she nods, laughing.
“I wonder how many orgasms this couch has experienced” she says.
“I can't believe this, thank you”
“Well it's the least I could do for you, now let's get this place rocking” I smile.
“Pink and Purple. I love your office” she says, observing the entire place, you to be honest, I loved it too. It looked more feminine and colorful, giving the room a bit of life.
“ But let me love and leave you. I have to go back and see that grumpy old man”
“Kelly, why are still married to him, he's sixty-five, !” She rolls her eyed and walks out.
Kelly is my best friend, we met in kindergarten, she's been my best friend since then. Nothing in this world can pull us part, it's safe to say we're inseparable. But there is one thing that bothers me, though, her marriage.
She's twenty-five, and she's married to a sixty-five-year-old man. That's gross for crying out loud and irreligious.
“What the hell is going on here” I jump up.
“Don't you know how to knock?” I adjusted to sleeping back on my couch.
“Little Miss, I asked you a question!”
“Goodness gracious! I decorated my office, to my liking, is that a crime?” I shouted back.
“Didn't you hear what I said? No colors!” I sigh and make my way to him.
“You talked, I listened. I never said I'd act on your ridiculous rules. I want my office like this.” I yelled.
“Do you have a problem with it?”
“Yes, I do.” I smiled.
“You'll learn to leave it” I smirked
“The whole building can hear you guys?” an old, sweet-looking lady said.
“He started it” I walked out
Okay maybe he doesn't bother me that much but seeing that angry sure does keep me happy I should pick on him every now and then. Challenging him does feel satisfactory
