The morning in the East Fael Mountains is absolutely the most beautiful scenery Ron has ever seen. The towering peaks appear even more elegant and upright in the dense morning mist. Such a beautiful sight must be a very famous attraction, right? Ron continues to search his memory, but no matter how hard he tries, he can’t recall seeing such a place on any television or in any magazine.
The dwarf named Toshan is already prepared. Although his attitude towards Ron is not very friendly, Ron has to diligently carry a large bag of luggage for him. No matter where this is, in order to find his way home, he must first walk out of this mountain forest and reach a place with a concentration of people, right?
The entire day is spent with Toshan’s gestures. The beasts and the giant birds making strange noises here make Ron completely unaware of where he is. However, he can almost be certain that he has never seen such beasts or smelled such fresh air. Toshan, the dwarf, seems to have a long way to go. In the evening, he finds a place and sets up a tent.
Toshan gathers a pile of firewood and sets up a campfire. Ron casually picks up his lighter and, with a snap, ignites the campfire. His lighter immediately catches Toshan’s eye, and his face shows a look of surprise. Ron smiles and tosses the lighter to him.
Taking the lighter, Toshan carefully examines it, becoming increasingly amazed. He believes that even the most skilled master of the dwarves would not be able to create such a fine object in a few years. Watching Toshan marvel at the lighter, Ron explains to him how to use it.
“I bet! The person who made this thing must be a lunatic! But at least a master-level lunatic. To put so much effort into making such a delicate thing just to start a fire, this guy must be crazy!” As an excellent craftsman, Toshan feels that the person who made this thing is simply wasting his own skills.
He takes out a fire-type crystal from his bag, channels some energy into it, and a flame immediately appears on the crystal. This leaves Ron dumbfounded. Ron quickly grabs the crystal, looks left and right, but can’t find a switch. As a student of physics, he can’t figure out how the dwarf named Toshan is creating fire.
“It seems necessary to learn to communicate with this guy,” Ron thinks to himself as he exchanges the crystal for the lighter.
Although Ron doesn’t learn Toshan’s difficult language, he can at least communicate with Toshan fluently using gestures.
The next afternoon, an ancient castle appears before Ron’s eyes. What makes him despair is that no matter the architectural style of the castle or the people passing by, he doesn’t feel like this is his country or his time!
After entering the city, a not-so-wide main street leads directly into the city. Ron finally concludes that this is no longer his world. “Why am I so unlucky? Why did I happen to be on duty in the laboratory that night, and why did the reactor malfunction that night, sending me to this inexplicable place, this inexplicable time?” Lost in thought, Toshan takes Ron back to his father Toshdi’s weapon shop.
Toshdi is swinging his huge hammer to forge an iron sword. Toshan enters and starts shouting, “Father, I have completed the tasks you assigned. Here are the crystals. Look, the quality should be very good. This time, we made a big harvest. The tribe discovered a new mine a few months ago, and I estimate that there are some good magic crystals in this batch.” Toshdi puts down his hammer and says, “Well done, my child. Go wash up first, and tomorrow, take the crystals to Master Aixin for appraisal… Is this guest you brought?”
“Yes, father, this guy is someone I rescued from a big forest. He doesn’t understand our language, seems to be a foreigner.”
“Go help him change his clothes, give him something to eat, and I will talk to him later. If a stranger wants to live in Lannister, maybe I can help him find a job,” Toshdi instructs Toshan.
Three months later, in the Magician’s Guild of Lannister, a hoarse voice is heard, “Ron, harness my carriage. I’m about to go out. If Laxer asks, tell him I’m going to Count Stonborough’s house for a banquet.”
“Alright, Master Laxer, I will do as you command,” Ron replies.
“Also, clean up my magic laboratory, and don’t touch anything inside,” Master Laxer says.
“I will follow your orders.”
Since Ron arrived in Lannister three months ago, Toshdi saw that he was alone and introduced him to a job at the Magician’s Guild in Lannister. After solving his survival problem, Ron worked hard to learn the language and writing here. Three months is not long, but Ron can now communicate normally with the people here. Of course, during these three months, Ron also realized that this is not his original Earth. He obtained a map from an adventurer, which is said to be the most detailed map of the continent, and studied it for a whole day, only to find that there is no such continent on his original Earth.
“Maybe it’s another dimension,” Ron thinks to himself. “The reactor couldn’t have sent me to another planet. The only possibility is that the reactor’s malfunction generated a huge amount of energy, sending me to another dimension.”
Completely resigned, Ron settled in the Magician’s Guild. At first, he only did odd jobs, but gradually, because he could understand the language here and was very obedient, he caught the attention of Master Laxer. Master Laxer was in need of someone to help him manage his magic laboratory. Ron had been an assistant to his teacher in the physics laboratory in his previous world. Although it was a different laboratory, the rules were similar. Ron knew not to touch the instruments inside, and after helping Master Laxer tidy up the laboratory a few times, Master Laxer officially took him on as an apprentice, for the time being, to help manage the laboratory.
Master Laxer is a senior fire mage. In the Leirde Empire, where there are not many magicians, the status of a magician is very high, especially for senior mages above the rank of grand mage. They are the objects of friendship for the various nobles in the empire. At this time, Master Laxer has been invited by Count Stonborough of Lannister to attend a banquet.
After Master Laxer leaves, Ron quickly enters Master Laxer’s laboratory, tidies it up, and then cleans it thoroughly. After changing into clean clothes, he leaves the guild.
After turning a corner, he arrives at Fael Street, not far from Toshdi’s weapon shop. “Ron, aren’t you working today? Why are you here so early?” Toshdi greets Ron while working. “Yes, Master Toshdi, Laxer has something to do today. Uncle, I’m here to find Toshan. Toshan… Toshan…” After greeting Toshdi, Ron goes inside to find Toshan.
