Chapter 10 Escape

“It seems that Stoneton has already made up his mind to leave the empire. Kurl, I am responsible for opening the city gate. As for how to break through, it will depend on you excellent knights,” Master Lake stepped out of the carriage and let Ron, Lassel, and Chris also disembark. With a recitation of a spell, the master pointed his wand towards the sky, and a white light appeared, shining brightly in the dark night. The light slowly expanded, rotated, and descended, eventually enveloping their group like a huge, transparent cauldron.

“For honor!” The gaze of all the Royal Knights was resolute. They held their long spears diagonally, the ends resting on the ground behind them, fearlessly waiting for the enemy’s arrival.

When the enemy approached, the power of the magical barrier set up by Master Lake finally manifested. When the cavalry reached about five meters in front of the barrier, it was as if they were restrained by an invisible force and could no longer advance. Some cavalry with poor riding skills even lost their balance and fell off their horses. Some stronger cavalry tried to attack the barrier, but when their power touched the barrier, they were repelled. After the enemy’s first charge failed, Master Lake had completed his magic array. He said to Kurl, “Prepare to charge,” and then activated the magic array. A huge fireball slowly formed, with a diameter as high as two people. After breaking the magic barrier, the fireball quickly rolled towards the city gate.

No one dared to resist this huge fireball. The encirclement formation of the Glorious Knights was torn apart by the fireball, which directly hit the city gate. After a loud bang, the fireball blasted a hole in the huge city gate, about the height of two people.

Kurl shouted, “Form up, pierce the formation, assemble! Prepare to charge!”

The master and Lassel got on the carriage, and Ron, who couldn’t ride a horse, and Chris, who had no horse, had to get on their own carriage.

Fifty Royal Knights, protected by the traces of the fireball, charged towards the city gate. Kurl led the charge at the front, his fighting spirit already released. His spear pointed directly ahead, and the familiar feeling of charging from many years of battle returned. As his speed increased, the flow of his fighting spirit also grew stronger. The tip of his spear was already emitting a red light, and anyone in his path could not withstand his blow.

Ron had already pulled back the curtain of the carriage and pointed his wand outside. If any enemies approached, they would definitely face merciless lightning. Unfortunately, the Royal Knights protected the carriage very carefully, and no one could get close to it. Chris sat in the driver’s seat of the carriage, holding a long sword and shouting the charge command along with the Royal Knights.

With a “swish,” a long sword blocked Kurl’s spear. As the long sword turned, a force was transmitted from the sword to Kurl’s arm, deflecting the spear. Kurl had already charged to the city gate and was finally stopped by Ophion. Ophion leaped into the air, and with a sweep of his long sword, a crescent-shaped fighting spirit detached from the long sword and struck towards Kurl.

Kurl roared, “Protect the rear, the carriage leaves the city. I will make this guy regret why he chose to stand in this position.” With that, Kurl also leaped off his horse, his fighting spirit surged, and the tip of his spear burst into flames. Ophion jumped onto the ground, and with a swift retreat, he quickly swooped towards the carriage at the city gate.

With a “c***k,” a bolt of lightning suddenly struck Ophion without warning through the window of the carriage, directly hitting his head. Ron was looking around inside the carriage and Ophion, who had leaned against the carriage, undoubtedly became his first target. With a wave of his wand, a high-voltage lightning bolt directly struck Ophion, who thought he had escaped danger.

Seeing Ophion, completely black and trembling on the ground, all the members of the Glorious Knights began to gather around him. Ron stuck his head out and shouted loudly to the shocked Kurl in the air, “Go!”

Then his carriage followed Master Lake’s carriage out of the city gate.

After Kurl reacted, he quickly jumped onto his mount and chased after them out of the city gate, and no one dared to stop his momentum.
