Chapter 2

"Don't try to guilt trip me okay; cause I already feel guilty enough as it is. But I expect you of all people to understand the work I have to go through before I become Alpha" Roland said. "I do... So if you're so busy, what are you doing here now?" I asked "Are you kidding me? It's your eighteenth birthday, there's no way in bloody hell that I would miss that"he said confidently. "Well, I'm sorry I missed yours" I said but I wasn't really feeling sorry. "It's my fault, I didn't send you an invitation, so I deserved it" "You're right you did" I said then he chuckled. "Tell me do you still love singing?" He asked. "As much as I love the color white". White is my favorite color. "Okay then sing something" he said. Then I started laughing, but stopped when I saw that he was serious. "I'm not going to sing. Not here at least". "Why? Are you timid..." "I am not timid, and I have never been timid. So stop saying words like that cause I'm not gonna let you bait me into singing" Roland takes a quick glance around. "Everyone here's expecting some thing spectacular from you. So you might as well just sing". This time I'm the one who took the glance around. "No one is expecting anything from me..." "I am!... I think I know what your problem is. You've lost your voice. That sweet sweet angelic voice that everyone admires from you, it's gone. Now that's a shame" Roland said with a smug smile. "You know what you win." I took a step back from him; "I'm gonna sing!" I said loudly then everyones gaze fell on me, in anticipation. 'What was I thinking', I regretted my decision immediately. But I didn't wanna let anyone down so I had no choice but to sing. I started to think of my late mother and decided to sing the lullaby, that she used to sing to me. There is nothing more sad than a wolf who is alone, a lone wolf is always in pain cause he doesn't have a home; come to me now so we'll never be apart, I'll be waiting for you at home, cuz home is in your heart. I tried to add flare to the song so I wouldn't put people to sleep. And after I was done everyone started clapping. I looked at Roland, his jaw was dropped. "Do you still think I've lost my voice" I said as I walked closer to him. It took a while before he got himself together. "...uh, no. I guess it's true what people say about your voice". "What do they say?" I asked intrigued. "That your voice are your pheromones you use to attract people towards you. They also say it won't be hard for you to find a mate that way" he said. Then my expression darkened. "Do you wanna become Alpha?" I asked outta the blue. "Yeah. Don't you?" "I do but doesn't it annoy you that you have to get married first. It's a barbaric notion" I noted. "Come with me!" Roland said then gently dragged me to follow him, and I obliged... Damien's POV It had gotten a bit late, and Willow decided to call it a night. I gazed at the moon for a while through a window. 'It's a full moon wolves are bound to come out to night' I thought. I went to Willow's room to make sure she was asleep. Once I was sure about that. I went to my closet and picked out a rifle loaded with silver bullets. I had heard rumors that silver has a critical effect on werewolves. I went on top of the roof, to get a better view of the forest near my resort. Which I believe is inhabited by werewolves. I rested on the roof; waiting incase anything comes out. Snow's POV Roland took me to the border separating our territory from his. We sat on a big stone while starring at the border. "The two territories are beautiful, aren't they?" He spoke up, but I didn't reply. Imagine if we got married..." "What are you talking about" I asked. "I'm just trying to explain, I don't really mean it" he said defensively. "I'm listening but don't mention marriage anymore" I cautioned. "Okay. If our two packs get united. We would become bigger, stronger, more efficient; in other words we would be powerful. That's what your dad and mine and every other Alpha are trying to accomplish.". "I get that, but do they have to take away our choice" I said. "No ones doing that. Our choice is to do what is best for our pack and that's what we'd be doing"he said. "You sound like an old man" I said playfully, while hitting his shoulder with mine. "I sound like a philosopher, not an old dude". "Yeah right!" I muttered sarcastically. Then all of a sudden, we started hearing; a cluster of heavy footsteps some distance away. "Do you hear that? What do you think it is?" I asked as we stood up to go and see. We saw a pack of werewolves crossing into our territory. They were moving very quickly. "Why are they coming here? Do they plan on attacking us?" I asked concerned. "The didn't come with enough numbers for an attack. May be they have been invited to come" Roland suggested. "Why would my dad invite another pack just for my birthday?" "I think we should go back" "Yeah. Afterall we aren't gonna find out any thing by staying here. Are we?" I asked rhetorically, then we left. When we got back, I saw that two different packs were here. And my father was about to give a speech. One of the members from the different packs approached me with two glass of champagne in his hand. He stretched out one glass to me and I unconsciously took it. "Who are you" I managed to ask. "Easy. I'm Cullen Ryder; a Beta in my pack. And I must say you look stunning. The words people use to describe you, aren't enough to do you justice" the so called Cullen Ryder said and kissed the back of my palm. Then he started trailing his lips up my arm... "Get away from her" Roland said then stepped in between us. "It's my first time here so I shouldn't cause a scene; or dear old daddy would give me the boot. But I'll be seeing you two, even more than you know" Cullen said then blew a kiss towards me and walked away. "What was that about" I asked Roland but before he could answer, I heard a cold and husky voice speak. It was the voice of my father. Draco Crescent. "As you all know, today is my daughters birthday. And I can't think of a better moment than this to announce that she'll soon be getting married" he said briefly. But those few words sent shock flying down my spine, that the glass of champagne I was holding slipped outta my hands and broke. "WHAT!!!". Roland's POV "What!!!" Snow yelled filled with shock. "I, I... What did you just say?" She said to her father harshly. "Mind your tone Snow, you're talking to your father" I cautioned. "I don't care who I'm talking to. No one is allowed to go behind my back and make decisions for me without my consent!" She said sharply. "Wait! You, you already knew about this; didn't you? That's why you took me to the border and started telling me all those stuff about uniting our pack". Snow said as she looked angrily at me. I didnt know what to say for a while because, what she said was true. But I figured it would be best if I just tell her the truth. "Yes I knew" I said simply. "Damn you Roland! You could have told me, and maybe I would've been more prepared to hear this..." "Believe me I thought about it; but I figured it would be best if you heard it from your father, and not me" I said, trying to sound convincing. "Well Roland, it would be a cold day in hell if you think that I'm gonna get married to you" Snow said, and I felt hurt. "Snow! Behave yourself!" Her fathers cold voice said. Then she looked at him with a teary eye. When she saw that he didn't feel any empathy for her, she just stormed off. I was about to go after her, to try and cheer her up. But Scarlett stepped in front of me. "I wouldn't do that if I were you. She's already mad at you, so going after her would just make things worse. Besides if I know Snow, she's not gonna stay angry for too long and then she'll come back." Scarlett said. "But if she doesn't come back, you would take her place and become Luna" I said. "That's the way it has to be. I didn't make the rules" she said with a sly smirk. "I can't believe that Snow doesn't see you as the fox that you are" "And you do?" she said, then took the rose that was in my tux pocket; "thanks, I may have alot of red on me but blue is actually my favorite color" she said, sniffed the rose then walked away. Damien's POV I started falling asleep while I was on the roof. 'Huh, I guess I was wrong. No wolves are coming out to night' I thought Then I heard a sound coming from the forest. 'Or maybe I wasn't wrong' I thought again as I picked my rifle and aimed towards the direction of the sound. I was shocked when I saw it wasn't what I expected. Instead it was a lady wearing a white gown. I blinked repeatedly to be sure that I was seeing things clearly, and not hallucinating because I was feeling sleepy. When I was totally sure of what I was seeing. I quickly got down from the roof to go and meet her. I entered the outskirts of the forest. I saw her but I couldn't see her face clearly cuz it was dark, but I could tell that she was sad. "Are you alright miss?" I asked. When she noticed my presence, she started running deeper into the forest. "Wait don't go in there it's not safe" I tried to warn her but she kept on running. I ran after her, until she ran too deep into the forest then I stopped. I hated the forest, mostly because I was afraid of it. Ever since the incident that happened to me when I was younger; I've always dreaded this place...
