Chapter 3

1106 Words
“You can take your leave, Yolanda,” Harry said to Yolanda so he could have some alone time with Hope. “You sure, boss? because I’m not done explaining her duties to her,” Yolanda said. “I didn’t stutter, Yolanda.” Immediately after Harry said that, Yolanda left the office. Now there were only Hope and Harry in the office. Harry went to lock the door, then started to pull Hope’s arm. “Ouch, you’re hurting me!” Hope shouted. “Sshhh!! What are you doing in my company Hope? How did you find me?” Harry asked Hope without leaving any room for her response. “I left you a letter explaining why I had to leave, so how did you find me?” he continued “I swear, I didn’t look for you, Harry. I’ve been applying for a job here for months now” Hope replied. “C’mon now, so you didn’t research who the CEO was?” he asked her. “I’m serious. Besides if I had known that you were the CEO, how could I possibly have known you would be at Yellings yesterday? Normally, Yellings is no place for CEOs like you,” Hope continued, trying to defend herself. “Well you have a point, but that’s not the bone of contention right now. I want you to forget and never talk about everything that happened from last night until this morning, from Yellings to the hotel. Do you understand?” Harry said in a commanding tone. “Sure thing, boss. Can I go meet Yolanda for my schedule now?” “Yeah, you can. Close the door on your way out.” Hope left Harry’s office feeling so sad. At first, she felt used because she slept with a random stranger who she met at a bar, and how he just left her at the hotel without saying anything. As if that wasn’t enough, her one-night stand turned out to be her boss at work. “I can’t believe this is how my first day at work turned out to be,” She muttered to herself. She finally came across Yolanda and asked for her schedule. “Why did Mr. Tyson ask to be left alone with you?” Yolanda asked immediately, and she handed Hope her schedule. “It was nothing much, he just wanted to talk about how he likes his work being done,” Hope replied. “Oh, that’s good. I thought he was already flirting with you.” “Already flirting?” Hope said to herself. “What do you mean by you thought he was already flirting with me?” Hope asked Yolanda. Yolanda then told Hope about how Harry was a flirt boy, and how he was attracted to anything wearing a skirt. Hope began to feel horrible about all this. “So I gave my all to a f**k boy? isn’t that great?” She said sarcastically to herself. Yolanda eventually excused herself for Hope to continue her work. Hope wanted the ground to swallow her up, because how did she manage to put herself in this awkward situation? All she could think about now was closing from work and going back home. It was finally 6 p.m and Hope had never seen time move so slowly. She packed her work documents into her office desk and took her leave. While waiting for a cab to pass, it began to rain and she had no umbrella. A few minutes later, a black convertible pulled over and asked her to hop in. “Oh thank you. There’s no need for that, I’ll get a cab soon,” she said trying to reject the driver's kind over. “You work at Express., right? I saw you at the office, come on in. I can’t drive by seeing a member of Express under the rain.” He said trying to convince Hope to come on in. The rain was getting worse and no driver was in sight, so Hope was subjected to accept the stranger’s offer. “Nice to meet you, I’m Eugene,” The gentleman said. “Nice to meet you too, I’m Hope.” “It seems that you’re new here at Express., today is the first time I’m seeing you here.” “Yeah today was my first day, I got my acceptance mail yesterday,” Hope said trying to make the conversation end as soon as possible. “Well I’m the managing director of the company and it’s always nice seeing a new face at the office, especially a pretty one,” he said with a smirk. Eugene was a very handsome man, with charming eyes, a nice mustache and goatee combo, and a nice body build. He was the second most sought-after man at Express after Harry. He was a playboy just like Harry but instead, he was a more persistent man. He couldn’t take no for an answer. “We’ll soon get to my place. It is just twenty minutes away from here,” Hope said trying to break the awkward silence in the car when Eugene started looking at her in a predatory way. “I wish we had more time to talk Hope,” Eugene mentioned while placing his hands on Hope’s thighs. Hope wasn’t comfortable with what Eugene was doing but she didn’t caution him, instead she simply lifted his hand off of her. “How about you drop me off here, I’ll find my way from here,” Hope said. “I told you that I cannot allow you to leave this car not until we get to your place,” Eugene snapped at her. It was at this point Hope knew she wasn’t safe in Eugene’s car and all she could hope for was to get to her house safely. It was very obvious that Eugene had anger issues. Eugene finally pulled over in front of Hope’s home and she thanked him for the ride. “C’mon now, there are better ways you can thank me,” Eugene said while putting his hand on her thigh again but this time he was closer to her fanny. “Uhm Mr. Eugene I’m not comfortable with what you’re doing,” Hope said. “Just keep quiet and do as I say,” Eugene whispered into her ear. Eugene began to unbuckle his belt and take off his shirt. As he was about to kiss Hope on her lips, she slapped him on the face opened the car door, and ran away into her home. “You’ll pay for this Hope! Mark my words.”
