Chapter Two

Valerie I was strapped to a chair and Enzo finally came in, he signaled for his men to leave. “You vomiting on me or pretending your dad isn’t here. Which do you think is more offensive?” he asked. I smirked, “You are obviously very stupid. The last thing any lord wants right now is a fight. You have one already and we have ours too.” I tried to set my set free, not to escape, just for relief. “Sharp mouth on a weak girl.” “Blunt mouth on a weaker man,” I said. He sighed, “Why are you here?” he asked. “I came to pray.” I closed my eyes. “Can you be serious?” “Am I joking?” I asked. “Why are you here?” His voice came out bigger. I fake shivered, “Oh my… if this is how you rule your people as a lord, you have a lot of work to do.” He sighed and he pointed his gun at me. When I just smiled at him, he pointed it to the ground. “You are a bluffer not a man of action. Got it.” I would love to give him a thumbs up. He went behind me and he loosened me, “You are way too dumb to be used on a mission.” He came to my front. “More like, you don’t have anything to spy on. All your attitudes are noticeable. I could kill you right now if I wanted to.” I smiled and I stood up. I felt way more sober, probably because I vomited and I almost started a war between two mafia families. “Never, come here again. If any of my men caught you, we wouldn’t be conversing.” I ignored him and I walked out of the room, finding my way back to the main club. When I got in, I saw Kim dancing with someone. “Kim,” I called softly. “Yeah.” She escaped from the man’s embrace. “I am going home,” I said. “Oh… then I will leave too.” She went to the bar stand before I could disagree. She brought her purse back, “I will drive you,” she said. “You are drunk and you don’t need to go now.” I looked at the time. “I do and my driver is also outside so he can drive us.” She walked out of the bar without a care in the world. I followed her. “Valerie,” the driver said softly. “David,” I said back. He opened the door for us, “Thank you,” we said in unison. ~ ~ ~ I sat on the dining with my parents and each time the phone of my dad rung. I thought it was a spy or a guard who saw me talking to the enemy last night or the Shadows family declaring war. Like I always say or something I recently found out, I am not afraid of dying. “So, Valerie. I killed your kidnappers,” my dad said. “Thank you for rescuing me from the cons of your job.” I used my knife to produce a loud sound with my plate. “Apologize to your dad, now,” my mum said. “He let you speak today?” I scoffed and I stood up from the dining. My mum is an unnecessarily loyal wife, always wants to attend to his needs, be for him. In fact, their marriage was formed by my dad’s mafia family and hers. “Sit down!” my dad said. “I need to sleep. You know I was kidnapped right.” I walked to the staircase and before I got there I heard my dad. “Just a little kidnapping and you are traumatized.” I turned to him and he turned to my mum, “Vanessa, you need to give me another child. Preferably a son because your daughter can’t handle this business.” “Please, just take away my life or let me free. I hate you more than you can ever hate me.” I walked upstairs angrily. When I got to my room, something was different. It was the dirt I noticed on my floor, no one will notice but when you are as bored as me, you pay attention to little details. Also, the air. It smelled like him. I am not obsessed with the lord of Shadows. I repeated in my head like a mantra because how I know his scent or how my room smelled like him made no sense. Unless, he snuck into my room. I felt a strong palm on my mouth, “Don’t say a word,” he whispered into my ears. Theodore Enzo. I bit his palm, “You are the worse lord to exist.” I walked to my bed and I sat on it. “Your dad didn’t know you were there last night,” he said. I shook my head and I lay down, “Leave, I want to sleep.” I closed my eyes. “Are you not going to ask what I am doing here?” he asked. I opened my eyes, “I know your reply would be to return the favor. If you are worried about why I’m not scared of you. I’ll explain. You are death and I am not scared of death. Now, get the f**k out of my room.” I closed my eyes back and I tried to sleep but I couldn’t. I could feel Theodore still here with me though but I knew he wasn’t there. .
