HIS MATE: Fate’s joke.

Chapter 2

Jared awoke in the dimly lit room to familiar lips trailing kisses down his left arm. Seeing that the curtains were still drawn, he felt it was still very early and suddenly flipped trapping the culprit beneath him.

Seth his lover of three years whom he lived with was too neat and organized for his good and was very particular about some things.

He felt things should be arranged and be kept where they belong. Dirty clothes go to the laundry bag, shoes should be kept in the rack, the towels belonged to the bathroom and not the bed, a cup should be returned after use and not left on the table, dishes should be done immediately after eating, the bed should be dressed once you are out of it, and the curtains shouldn't be closed when it's day.

Seth acted like an older brother when it came to putting things in order and Jared wouldn't have it any other way. He saw Seth as his lucky charm because his life started lighting up when Seth came into it.

”I probably didn't satisfy you last night, do you want us to go at it again?” He groaned already feeling changes in his length, his voice sounding raspy as he had just woken up from sleep.

The question made his lover blush from ear to ear as images that were both ’embarrassing’ and worthy of noise bleed flashed in his mind.

”Good morning handsome” Seth greeted instead avoiding the question making Jared raise an eyebrow.

”Aren’t you going to work today?” Seth continued lying very still as he felt the changes on Jared’s body who already had his hands all over him. Sometimes, he wondered if Jared could ever be satisfied.

Jared was a ravenous beast who is a very passionate lover but also dominant and very possessive of him and didn't mind showing it at any time.

Yesterday had been their anniversary, after a romantic evening out and a late dinner, Jared made it a point to tire him out that he lost count of how many times they went at it and even lost consciousness. Seth was not ready for what was going to happen if he was to move the slightest or the hands touching him continued as he was still sore all over from last night's events so he said what he knew would make Jared rational once more.

”Honey, it's Monday you know and it's 8:30 already aren't you going to be late for work?”

”Damn!” Jared hissed frustrated as he hated being interrupted. As though something just clicked in his head, he jumped down from the bed leaving his lover there and walked into the bathroom.

As the warm water hit his body, his mind could not help but roam. He was a free spirit at heart and always wanted everything to be that way as he showed it with reckless abandon when it came to his love life but the rational part of him always won as he was very realistic and preferred stability; own it up to his parents who were free spirits and ended up barely living as they fed from hand to mouth and thought themselves happy.

Thinking of the possibility of him having siblings if his mum didn't have issues with childbirth sent shivers down his spine as he hurriedly began to soap his body thinking he might catch a cold from staying under the water for too long.

It's not that he was selfish or anything he loved his parents, ”God bless their soul” he said out loud. But he was already much of a problem to them and couldn't imagine someone else going through what he did. After he lost his parents due to ill health, He worked for four years to pay off the bills accumulated by their treatment and medicine and the loans from college before he landed his new job.

How malnourished and sick he was then is an indelible memory. He did not want to beg nor live in the streets again and his steady 8 to 6 job did a good job of keeping a roof above him and putting food on his table. Since he was so good at what does, he takes it seriously.

Speaking of 8 to 6, he remembered Seth said it was 8:30 when he stepped into the bathroom and hurriedly rinsed his body. He was going to be late for work on a Monday.

Stepping out of the shower with just a towel hanging dangerously low on his waist, Jared did not miss the lustful gaze that passed through the eyes of his lover who just came into the room.

”You like what you see?” he teased Seth making him blush harder.

”I will deal with you when I get back” he continued and closed the gap between them trapping Seth in a breathtaking kiss.

”Dress up and come out for breakfast,” Seth said when they broke the kiss to come up for air. As usual, Jared’s kiss did crazy things to his body.

”I will pass, I'm late already”

”But it's not even 7:30 yet, you didn't check the time before jumping into the shower”.

It was a few minutes after eight when Jared got to the company and swiped his employee ID at the entry point before he was granted entry inside. Walking into the shared office, he gained stares from his co-employees that got him blushing when he remembered what made him late.

”Jared?” He turned to face the manager of the marketing department where he worked immediately he sat down with shock visible in his eyes thinking he was caught.

”The project I assigned to you to work on for the contract between us and the possible company fit for the collaboration I hope you have rounded it off?”

”Yes Sir”.

”Which company did you pick?”

”I actually picked more than one Sir”

”Okay, put finishing touches, it would be required in a meeting with the boss”.

”Yes sir”.

”And” the manager continued, ”Attach a copy of the market survey and cost estimates which shows why the companies were chosen for the collaboration. I want it on my desk before the end of the day”.

”Yes sir” Jared answered sneering inwardly as the manager returned to his office.

The manager never did anything he just assigned his share of work to other people and took the glory when things worked out. Jared knew he wanted the market survey and cost estimates were so he could go through them and be able to make it seem like he was the one who did all the work. He always thought of how someone like him managed to get to that position.

”He must know someone among the higher-ups,” he thought.
