  EVELARA   The bathroom lights flickered once above me as I rinsed the blood from my wrist. The water turned pink, then clear again, swirling down the drain as if it carried my last thread of sanity with it.   For a moment, I saw it— that faint shimmer beneath my skin. A mark shaped like a half-moon and a flicker of flame.   I blinked, confused and surprised at the same time.   It pulsed once, like something alive. Then as the water poured over it, the glow faded… slow and reluctant, like it didn’t want to leave me.
